Happy at the Bay Teriyaki — Restaurant in Gig Harbor

The food was absolutely terrible. I've had better food at a gas station. The mango Boba tea tasted so chemically and pure sugar My kids couldn't even drink it. The Bulgogi was mixed with a vegetables and hardly any meat, The meat was old and dried out. The teriyaki chicken had much to be desired, The chicken Katsu wasn't the worst thing ever. But how hard is that to mess up? Even the salad and lettuce was old and soggy. I tried this place based on STARS, Don't let the rating fool you. The whole place smell like a hospital they were trying to hide a mess.. The lady at the counter was friendly, that was about the best thing about this restaurant.. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for 4 years at least 2x a week. The previous owner Sarah, and the staff were amazing anf so kind and the food was never bad! We became regulars and Sarah and her staff knew us so well that whenver we called take out no one ever needed our names because they knew our order. Since the new owners came a couple months ago the customer service has been unfriendly and the the last 3x we ordered take out the meat wasnt cooked all the way and the salad was brown. Forks and fortune cookies were also forgotten on most orders. And the times we went in to eat we were forgotten for 20 minutes and when our waters were gone no one came to fill them up for the duration of our meal. Something has changed since I came here years ago, and it definitely wasn't for the better.

Both meals were so salty it was hardly edible, teriyaki chicken was overcooked, the sauce seemed so reduced and intensified it was hard to eat, and anything breaded tasted like day-old grease and had the texture of leather. The rice was dry, and the lettuce had no dressing (on the side or otherwise). Don't add "spice." It's not worth it. You're charged extra, and it wasn't actually spicy. To limit this review a bit, it was the end of the night, probably one of the last orders of the day, and I feel for end of shift service just trying to finish everything out (totally been there) but man, even the last order of the day should still taste somewhat fresh and cared for.
