Gig Harbor Ace Hardware — Local services in Gig Harbor

I've been a regular customer at the Ace Hardware store in Gig Harbor, WA, and have always appreciated the variety of products, especially around the holiday season. On my recent visit, I encountered a situation that I feel needs addressing.

I entered the store with my 3-year-old Labradoodle, as I've done on previous occasions, to pick up Christmas decorations. I was unaware of any pet policy, as I had not been informed during past visits and hadn't noticed any signage. During shopping, an employee, from a distance, informed me that dogs were not allowed in the store. This was surprising, not only to me but also to other shoppers, due to the manner in which it was communicated.

I understand and respect that every business has the right to establish its own rules, and I immediately complied by leaving the store. However, I feel the situation could have been handled more professionally. A calm and direct approach would have been less disruptive and more considerate, both to me and other customers present.

While I won't be returning due to this experience, I believe this feedback can be an opportunity for improvement in customer communication and clarity in store policies. Making the pet policy more visible and training staff on how to politely enforce it could enhance the shopping experience for all customers.

This place has something for everyone. As the name implies it has plenty of hardware and supplies for home repair and improvement projects along with the tools to do it. But it also has so much more. They carry a nice variety of indoor and outdoor plants along with a very nice selection of garden tools. They are also an authorized distributor for Stihl equipment and have great selection on hand along with the various accessories that you'd want or need. They have unique homegoods items that vary with the season along with items that you use or need for day to day living. The staff is great and are always helpful. As a rule you can find someone to help you without having to walk too far or wait too long. I just moved to Gig Harbor. Where I lived before had an Ace Hardware I liked going to so I came here. WOW! This Ace Hardware makes the Ace Hardware in Burien look bad, but I thought the Ace Hardware in Burien was great. This Ace Hardware in Gig Harbor is even better. Looks like they have EVERYTHING. The inventory and selection blew me away. Skip the Big Box stores and go to Ace!
