My physician is located at the Multicare Urgent Facility so I get a special treat of visiting this shopping center. I enjoyed my visit until the weather changed but that is the centers fault. I was able to seek shelter in the main foyer of Marshalls Department store. I was able to observe the bus stop from the foyer. I was looking forward to catching the bus back to Tacoma. I waited a lengthy time and became concerned after too much time had passed. I went into Marshals and asked THIER sales associate at the register about the TACOMA bus. The bus stop I was watching was for the trolley. that goes into actual town of Gig Harbor and NOT TACOMA. Silly me! I then proceeded to the bus stop in behind Marshalls which is the main street aka Point Fosdick Drive. Finally the bus arrived... So I thought. It was going to Purdy. My cell phone had lost power so no way to check the online bus schedule. Online is only way to check or get bus schedules. The dark ominous clouds were moving in quickly so I went back to Marshalls to wait out the storm. After a brief snow shower I went into Marshalls and found a cable and charger. I then went over to the Multicare building and plugged in. I discovered I had a lengthy wait and gave up. My friend was reached and she offered to pick me up. I was so thankful as it was cold with showers. I discovered waiting for buses there was no covered shelter at trolley stop or the Tacoma stop. It was uncomfortable waiting in the elements. This is where I ask why. Gig Harbor and Pierce County Transit needs to address a bench. Especially so close to Urgent Care. A covered shelter is what's truly needed.
This shopping center holds a multitude of stores. Lots of resturaunts to choose from. The shopping center also holds a wonderful Safeway if you wish to grab a few things. You will find Gig Harbor a historical town and the center is a upgrade. Whether by car or bus you will find Gig Harbor a pleasant place for a destination. Please be reminded of the $6.25 toll if by car. Bus can be caught that connects you at TCC Transit Center....
Β Β Β Read moreUptown Gig Harbor is the elite (and expensive) part of an already wealthy town. I don't say this in a derogatory manner--I simply mean that you can tell this is a more affluent part of town, and you can expect to pay much higher prices than some of the other towns on the west side of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Overpriced, mostly, but some establishments here are worth the extra cost when you consider the quality you're getting. Some other places are simply overpriced for the same quality you get for less money a few miles down the road. This is a time to say "Shopper beware" and do your homework. Overall, it's a good place to shop if you can afford it. If it's out of your budget, you can definitely find the same quality for less money in Purdy, Port Orchard, Belfair, and Tacoma. The one thing Uptown Gig Harbor has that you can't really match elsewhere is the Galaxy Theater. It's pretty stellar, and I highly recommend it. Pricey, yes, but worth it for the cushy, reclining...
