This is definitely not anything like it looks online. When we walked in all of the chairs were on top of the tables. I thought maybe they were closed but I was told they were open and they had just got done cleaning. We were encouraged to eat outside.
I wanted the chicken euro but he kept talking about the traditional so my kids went with that. I said I wanted chicken again, and he tried to discourage me from getting chicken again. He told me it would take 15 minutes longer than the others. I told him I still wanted the chicken.
Later, I was cold and wanted to go inside for dessert but there was no one inside because he was outside chatting with someone.
While I was waiting inside, I got to wondering about the prices because that was one of the things that made me choose that restaurant. It seemed strange that it came to over $60 when I had just been looking at the online menu 20 minutes before we arrived and thinking it didnāt look to spendy for a family dinner out.
I was shocked. The menu prices inside were almost twice what they showed in the online menu. And thatās when I decided not to get dessert. Iām not going to give my money to an establishment that lures people in with reasonable menu prices and then jacks them up almost double inside.
The food was disappointing. The large Greek fries barely covered the bottom of the paper plate they were served on. I may not have given such a low star if the food and the prices matched. But for the price I paid, I would expect a whole lot more. For what I got, I should have only paid the online prices. One of those needs to change or itās definitely a 1 to 2 star establishment. I spent over $60 for me and my two kids and it was a huge disappointment. I can think of many places we wouldāve enjoyed more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe discovered Ikonos completely by serendipity. We didnāt know Gig Harbor well and were just wandering around looking for something that sounded good. We ended up at a pretty little shopping center where this small Greek restaurant caught our eye. Without checking any reviews, we simply decided to walk in ā and what a wonderful surprise it turned out to be.
We ordered hummus, chicken shawarma, and a lamb gyro plate that came with tzatziki, saffron rice, and a fresh Greek salad. Everything tasted authentic, flavorful, and prepared with obvious care. The hummus especially reminded me of the kind I used to eat years ago while living in Israel ā smooth, rich, and deeply satisfying.
Ikonos is small and simple, with just a few tables inside and some seating outside in the plaza, but the food makes it a true gem. The owners are warm and humble, and you can feel that this is a place built with love and pride.
It has quickly become one of our favorite spots. In fact, whenever we find ourselves in the area ā even if weāve gone somewhere else, like Poulsbo ā we make it a point to come back to Gig Harbor just to eat here again. Ikonos is truly a hidden treasure, and Iām grateful we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there for the first time, looking to try something new and different. We were 3rd in line, no one else in the restaurant. Ordered a beef gyro, chicken ceazar salad, fries and 1 coke paid $35.00 which was shocking. Please note the time is 2.41 pm. Sat inside for about 20 minutes and our fries were served and we were told our other food would be right out. We started nibbling on the fries, which were very good. After another 10-15 minutes we decided to move outside where we finished off the fries. About 3.20pm my salad was served but no gyro in sight. Salad was disappointing, single layer of greens on a paper plate with some chicken on top. Started nibbling on it while waiting on the gyro. I didn't finish my salad... not very good. After another 10 minutes, my husband's gyro appeared and it was cold, beef was chunky not shaved, swimming in feta with hardly any sauce on it. He was not able to finish it. We finally left around 4 pm. Needless to say that we were very disappointed and won't be back. Seriously considered walking over to Happy at the Bay...
