This was my first taste of poke, and after eating at Poke N Roll, I am definitely a fan. I came here with my friends for a late afternoon lunch. We expected parking to be difficult to find due to other reviewers referencing the small parking lot, but luckily there were a few spots available. The lot is quite small, so definitely be prepared to look for street parking.
The restaurant is quite small, with a long table in the middle as well as a higher bar seating with stools along the side (if I remember correctly). I feel like people drop by, get their poke, eat, and are out of the restaurant in under thirty minutes, so finding a seat isn't usually too difficult.
The menu is fairly simple. You "BYOS" (Build Your Own Sushi) for $9.17, where you can pick white or brown rice, salad, or a roll (additional $1.25). Then you can add two types of fish on top of the base. The next step consists of 3 toppings, before finishing off with your choice of sauce. There are also extra sides if you'd like to add different things like edamame, gyozas, or soup to your bowl. You also get 1 scoop of crabmeat in your bowl. Your poke bowl is packed up for you in a cardboard box with the sauce on the side, so you can mix and customize it however you want.
I think the main reason I enjoyed my poke bowl here was because they had sour cream as one of the toppings, which I realized some other places do not have. I ordered white rice with salmon and eel. For my toppings, I chose seaweed, sour cream, and smelt eggs. My friends ended up doing double scoops of seaweed, which I thought was a cool option in the case that you don't really want any other toppings. For the sauce, I tried Yuzu Soy, which was a bit sour (very reminiscent of rice vinegar, but with more flavor). After mixing everything together, I really liked the flavor combination of my bowl. There was a good amount of fish and toppings, so I felt like it was well worth the price.
tl;dr - Definitely a place to try out if you're a fan of poke. Workers are friendly (you can take a Polaroid with their camera and post it on their wall of pictures!), and the portions are quite generous. The fish was really fresh as well! Will be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I first came to this place about a little more than a year ago this place was ideal for poke bowls not to mention the warm welcome of the employees that work there. For months a place to go to when indecisive for what to eat. Although as of recently its has been nothing more than a place to avoid (hurts to say). I have givin the three strikes policy because a great place to eat can always make a mistake every once and awhile. On Sunday 4-22-18 it was the last straw, when I selected my rice and fish and was placed into the bowl the employee suddenly chooses to walk away from me and choose to help another customer (I completely understand that help goes around but that wasnt the main problem) there after helping the other customer goes into the back room for a few minutes and then proceeds to wash dishes as my meal has not been put together just sitting on the prep table. (If anyone else knows when handling raw fish it needs to be eaten withing a 30 minute period or there is a chance of getting sick.) After about 15 minutes when the other employee is done with the other customer discussing a rewards app for the establishment I am finally helped. 3 minutes later I am out the door, heading home less than a minute away. As soon as I sat to eat what I have been craving for lunch and start to dig in the rice is cold and bland over cooked, the salmon was a tad slimy with a bit of fishy odor and the avocado had no flavor what so ever. It was the most disgusting poke bowl I have ever had. Most of you might have speculation on what I am about to say but I took 4 bites, threw up and put the rest away in the trash. After that experience I will not eat there again. Thank you for reading and I hope I save you from what I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time trying a poke bar style place, so my disclaimer is, as far as poke goes, I'm a super novice lol. That being said, this place was great!!!
The restaurant is tucked away in a little strip mall/shopping plaza with not a whole lot of parking. It wasn't an issue for us today but I can see how that could be hard during peak hours. Anyway, staff were super friendly and helpful, especially after we let them know it was our first time. Here's what we ordered:
My Bf: white rice, salmon, yellow tail, complimentary scoop of crabmeat, corn, avacado, gobo, spicy mayo, wasabi, sesame seeds and ginger.
Me: white rice, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, the scoop of crabmeat, crispy onions, green onions, seaweed salad, spicy mayo, garlic cream sauce (which is free if u check in!!!), wasabi, and ginger. note, most of these are considered customer favorites
We also opted to try their pork gyoza and chicken karage (sp?).
Annddd.... everything was delicious! I really liked my poke combo better but my bf's was good too! The fish was super fresh, buttery, and cut into large portions. The prices were also pretty legit especially given the portion sizes and quality of food. We were in foodie heaven! I highly recommend giving this poke bar a shot...i know we will be...
