Izzo's Illegal Burrito - Outfitters Dr., Gonzales — Restaurant in Gonzales

Back home in Florida, I go to a burrito chain called Moe's, or sometimes a Chipotle. Here, its as close as I can get. All three restaurants use the same formula of selecting ingredients for them to put in your burrito, taco, nachos, etc; it's effectively a subway for burritos. The ingredients are quality relative to the level of dining you'd expect and the food tastes good, although I can't comment on its nutritional content as I haven't checked. I can't imagine it being entirely healthy, but if you want a huge burrito (or tacos, etc) completely of your own making, enjoy somewhat Americanized Mexican food, and want something much better than taco bell or any other fast food, this is the place to go. Its miles ahead of fast food; I'd say it's the Applebees of Mexican. Not a full-star restaurant, but infinitely higher quality/taste than a drivethru. Pricing remains similar to this scale, expect to payg about $10-$12 for a meal/drink for one. Burritos are anywhere from the size of a large fist, the smallest option, to (literally) the size of your forearm.

The steak on my quesadilla is too tough to chew. A waste of money, could have just eaten a grilled cheese sandwich. After speaking to the manager and his kindness and willing to make things right, I will try again. So I am changing my 1 star to 3 for now. My rating started with a 1 then after speaking to the manager I changed it to a 3 but after I was lied to my 3 Star is a NO STAR Rating! "0" not the 1 that I had to choose. I returned a few week later to get my meal replacement. A phone call was "supposedly" made and I was told by an employee that the General Manager said I should have come back the same day to have my meal replaced. Mind you, I advised the manger on the day of my complaint that I will not be coming in that day & will get it for lunch on another occasion. I retrieved my phone from my car and showed employee my review (proof of purchase) & then he asked if I wanted him to call the manager again. I replied "No, I just want you to know I was not trying to get FREE food" Never...

After 4 years I wish I could give a 5 star but can't due to never knowing what kind of customer service I will receive upon entering. Also, sometimes the steak is tender and easy to chew and digest and other times it is comparable to tire tread and completely unable to chew and digest so I'm left with a pile of chewed up rubber. My spouse always orders pork and has no issues. If you are looking for fresh and getting exactly what you see then this is the place to go, great options for whatever your preferences are. Management could pay closer attention to the training of servers, why apply for a customer service job and not be willing to give good representation to your employer? It is totally hit or miss with this place. Yes we will be back as we have for the past 4 years and yes we will recommend it to others, just with a warning that the servers are hit and miss with service and attitude and that the "steak" may be flavorful but inedible and on the...
