La Figata — Restaurant in Granby

Stopped in as first timers for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at the range of options from the seafood and braised ribs all the way to the mainstream Italian fare of pizza and grinders. We were seated in the bar area, which was so noisy that we could not hear each other talking, even at half capacity. Our waitress initially showed promise, as she went to the kitchen to inquire about certain allergy foods. We ordered a dinner, a pizza and garlic bread (no cheese). Half hour later, we still didn't have the garlic bread. It finally arrived WITH cheese. The waitress so far had not even looked our way after ordering even to refill drinks, dropped off the plate and quickly disappeared. We were hungry, and considering the wait, we ate it without complaint. Our dinners soon followed, with the pizza being as expected. My husband's dinner however was a very small portion considering the price, and was very spicy/hot. The waitress never came back to check on us or refill drinks, so again, we ate what we could and waited for the check. Check came, with total service time being over 1.5 hours. The waitress gave off an attitude, like she was annoyed and didn't want to be there. It's a shame that with so many higher end options, the service and kitchen time leave so much...

An absolutely amazing dinner, from start to finish! We ordered the special cocktail, a Blueberry Lavender Mule; perfection! Our waitress was charming and efficient.  She brought us some focaccia bread to start, it was some of the best I've ever had.  We each ordered a side salad, which had a nice selection of veggies and olives, and the dressing was light and tasty. For dinner we ordered the Zuppa di Pesce, Pesto Gnocchi, and Milanese and Arugula Salad with chicken; each was out of this world!  A nice mix of ingredients in each dish, and all expertly prepared. The dining area is open and airy, with nicely appointed furnishings and an atmosphere that is perfect for date night or family dining.  Do NOT be put off by its location, once inside the door you'll never know you're in a small strip mall. We stopped in at 8:45 pm on a Friday night. Hours said open until 10:00 pm. The food was very good and the waitress attentive. However, she needed to cash us out at 9:40 pm because she was “cut.” Not really the customers issue and felt like we were being rushed despite her going out of her way to say we could finish our drinks and “no rush.” Mind you, there were several people still in the bar. No problem we gave our card and all set. Until…9:50 when the hostess comes over to tell us that they close in ten minutes and needs us to know that and that they close at 10:00. She was much less interested in expediting our visit when I ordered a drink while she poured our waters and said she wasn’t our waitress so to tell the waitress.
