If you're looking for a good meal with half a** service this is the place to go. Their food has brought me back to them after screwing up my order for the last 2 time in a row and causing nothing but headachs for trying to fix their mistakes. After waiting over a month to go back due to the problems from the last couple times I tried again and called in my order like always and waited the 10-15 minutes for my food to be ready. When my order came out I checked it and for the 3rd time in a row the order came out incorrectly (did I forget to mention that the lady who took my order read it back to me all 3 times??) She then had me wait an additional 15 minutes for my order to be corrected since she wouldn't give me my refund for the amount she charged for the incorrect order and then increased my payment to what the correct order should have been. I then asked about the rate increase since #1 it was their mistake for the 3rd time in a row and #2 I was forced to wait for the corrected order and lost the cost difference in tips that I could have been making if I were back to work on time, the owner told me that was the amount due and left. Unfortunatly after this last experience there will not be a 4th time going back to see if they manage to get the order right this next...
Read moreRight now we are in a pandemic. A lot of small businesses are struggling to survive. So I don't understand the reason behind the poor business management at House of Hsu.
I was a walk-in for carry out. I waited for about 5 minutes at the counter before I was presented with an employee. I placed an order and was told it would take 25 minutes. It took 45 minutes. By the time I received my order, there were 5 others who were waiting in the lobby to pick up orders. 2 others walked out, as the wait time was excessive.
My order was incomplete. I did not learn this until arriving home, as all of the additions to my meal were put into a cornucopia of side dishes. Perhaps I should have been wary as I overheard telephone issues regarding orders while I waited.
In summary, the food was mediocre and my order was incomplete after waiting for almost twice as long as I was told. And, pricing was about 33% higher than other locations Chinese themed restaurants in the area.
I cannot recommend the House of Hsu, based on my experience here. If you do go here for food, I recommend that you call ahead and only pay for your order after you verify that it...

Wife and I went to House of Hsu about 4+ years ago. Had the reputation of best in the area and she used to love eating there. We went and it was BLAH. Couple months ago people were talking this place up like crazy to a new in town looking for Chinese recommendations. Seemed that I was the only one who didn't care for it. My mom and dad have been there 2x and liked it. So we decided to try it again. Wife got her usual Gen Tso chicken and I went with shrimp fried rice and some egg drop soup. Her meal, just like ours last time is large bland tasting chicken nuggets with some dipping sauce. Egg drop soup tastes like watered down chicken broth. Kind of hard to mess up fried rice (but have had better in the mall) with tiny shrimp added. $45 down the drain. Wife could only stand about 3 nugs, I only ate a few spoons of soup. I'll be able to eat the rice, so $45 for a pint of shrimp fried rice. DONE DONE DONE, not doing that again. Mean lady in Grand Ledge it is. Good Flavor a far distant 2nd. Spoiled with Campus...
