Beto’s is a pretty solid Tex Mex restaurant with a festive environment toned down for family dining. The waiters are friendly and dart around with easy determination, they know the drink menu by memory but refer your order to the posted menu. I say posted menu, I almost wrote printed menu except this place uses those goofy QR code readers ubiquitous to most modern cell phones. Isn’t that interesting? You must have a cell phone in order to read their menu. Me - I like holding a print menu in my hand, goin back and forth comparing meals and trying to decide what I want. Especially since I’m convinced that most cell phones are carriers of germs and other hidden gunks … I won’t even set my phone down on the table if I’m gonna eat there. Cell phones are unsanitary. Moving on. I learned early on in my marriage that I get better looking when my wife drinks, so I encouraged her to have a rum and Coke. I like the bar placement at Beto’s, it’s close to the front and has a prominent “Come on in!” physicality to it. The bars not overly showy with a bunch of monitors and screens. So I won’t call it a sports bar. It’s just a good place to sit down and drink. Ive been intending to come back and see if they have any drink specials. Now my wife and I share our meals, we ordered a Mexican street corn as an appetizer. It was served on cob which was not easy to share. I would have preferred it in a bowl. We split the enchilada plate, which I contend was made in heaven and not Beto’s kitchen. Afterwards we split a praline cheesecake and it was so good that I started counting how many times my wife sunk her fork in and I accused her of eating more than her share. We had a pretty good time, no surprise to me because I’ve spent my last two Fathers Day dinners at Beto’s. I...
Read moreI asked the carne guisada or beef stew, if I'm not mistaken. My sister asked for grilled tilapia. The stew was very, very salty. The sides, rice, and beans are more or less. The tilapia had no taste except for the original fish taste and the salsa on top, just plain tomatoes. The chips were mixed with the old ones, I guess, because some of them were rancid. We didn't eat them. We had to eat some of the food because we were hungry after working all day at home, but it was a complete disappointment. We don't usually eat Mexican food and decided to give Beto's a try. Nah The service , more or less. The waiter tried her best but she was not listening when I told her that we didn't like the food and she answered: great and kept going, as if she only wanted to be compliant with the protocol. My sister stopped her and repeated what I said. She talked to the manager and came back offering something else but as I said, we were hungry and didn't want to wait, at the end when we didn't finish anything the bill came for the whole amount and I asked if after thar so much to desire food would I have a discount. She came back with the story that the manager had left, and only a $5 dollar discount could be applied, this time with an attitude. I paid, and we left determined not to come back again. It was around 6 pm when we got there, not so many people inside (no wonder), and they didn't have horchata at that time? And never offered to make some more. The variety of food is very poor, just the regular Mexican plates, but none of the pictures look appealing. There are better restaurants with better prices, maybe pricier but with a great selection if food in the menu and way, way greater taste. I like Mexican food once in a while, but this last visit...
Read moreBeto's is our go-to for delicious Mexican food with a homemade vibe. Their queso-covered(be sure to ask for queso) chicken chimichangas are FIRE🔥 because they are stuffed with grilled chicken and bits of oh so important jalapeño and onions and herbs 🌿 oh my!🤩 It was the first restaurant we went to in our neighborhood and we just fell in love with it. When you first sit-down your waitstaff will bring you a basket of chips and their homemade salsa. The chips are so thin & CRISPY😍 A dip in the salsa and they literally crunch then melt in your mouth. The service is fast! We love Ernie & Maribel so much there ❤️ known both of them for 17 years and we feel so welcome when we walk through the doors and see them. They ALWAYS smile 😃 & greet us with such kindness, we feel special and it's super nice especially in today's hustle & bustle world. Hubby & I always get their chimi and it comes with refried beans(my favorite beans in dfw), rice & their homemade jalapeño, carrot🥕 pickles which are tangy & spicy. They also have home made corn or flour tortillas upon request. Personally I like to take a big chip layer beans, rice, cheesy queso chimi bite and salsa in a BIG bite🤩. My Mom's favorite is the taco plate(2 hard shell tacos with all the fixins) rice and beans. And oh! Their chili relleno is to die for too. All the items I'm mentioning are from their lunch menu but also offered on the dinner menu as well. Their full menu is huge and we haven't tried a lot of it because we always get a taste for those chimis 😂. Finally, their sweet tea is always on point and ofc they offer...
