Hoi An House (Former Daily Pho) - Same Owner — Restaurant in Grapevine

Food takes a little while to come out, whether you are dining in or getting to go.

I ordered 2 entrees, 1 with extra meat (pictured below). I ordered one steak and 1 pork entree... they tasted the same, I kid you not 🤣.

The pros- the fried rice is amazing, worth the pricy upcharge of $1.50. It is fresh, packed with flavor and veggies.

The cons-

Servings are small- to-go order is in a round dish, salad is half the plate and then the rice and entree are the other half. If I wear to measure, my guess is you probably don't even get a full cup of rice. And only get around 3oz-4oz of meat...if that. For the pork, it came with no fish sauce, no sauce of any kind, and a laughable bit of chili paste, please see the picture, because I was laughing... if times are this tough, please double it and give it to the next patron. Plate came with salad, again no sauce. The meat was over cooked for both the steak and pork... way over cooked, coupled with no sauce was rough. My husband got an egg roll, no dipping sauce, but he said it was your standard egg roll.

I normally give restaurants a couple of chances. But I can say for this one, I won't be back. I don't appreciate the no-sauce, no condiment stance that the restaurant has taken... I view this as part of customer service, and that was lacking.

Taste 10/10! Price 10/10! Service 11/10!

I am not too much into Vietnamese food, but can always find time for a Banh Mi. I have never been to Vietnam, but have eaten Banh mi's all over the globe. Anyways, my simple chicken Banh Mi was the greatest one I have ever ate. Sweet, spicy, crunchy umami filled sandwich was well worth anyone's drive to eat. The bread is what I always saw on those Anthony Bourdain episodes when he traveled Vietnam (RIP). Crispy bread with a great feeling chew. Where did they get this bread lol?? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Tried the wifes pho and it was very nuanced and complex, not just generic broth with lemon grass you get at most pho joints.

Tried the spring roll and it was spot on, similar to what I make at home and tightly wrapped.

Service... if you care about that... (I don't really, just here for the food, you could flip me off, but if food good ill come back hahaha) Anyways, they almost did not want us to buss our table and gave everyone mints at the end. As a former Officer I could tell the smiles of the owner and workers were genuine. That aura of a kind soul is easy to spot with so much evil in the world...

Located less than five minutes' drive from the sprawling Grapevine Mills Mall, this unassuming Vietnamese restaurant seemed promising at first. The decor is light and pleasing, with non la straw hats and cherry blossoms wreathing the walls and the arch separating the dining hall from the kitchen and bathrooms.

The place operates a little different from other Vietnamese restaurants, ordering from the front instead of servers approaching your table. The employees were nice and personable, however, so there were no issues there.

The food is delicious--at least, for the first few bites. Because that's all it'll take to finish your plate, given how small the portions are. That wouldn't have been an issue, if the prices weren't completely out of proportion for what we got in terms of quantity. It's a shame, because each bit of it was flavorful and savory, right down to the pho broth.

I most likely won't come here again, but that's because I'm quite strapped for cash at the moment, and I can't afford to drop $12 for what's essentially a small bowl anywhere else. If the portion sizes improved, I'd highly recommend this spot.

TL;DR: Near pitch-perfect spot for some classic, no-frills pho, but the price-to-food...
