Came to Teatro last night with my fiance, looking forward to a nice evening. It started out sweet, complete with a table next to the live music & a rose for me given by the host. Seeing other reviews, it seems like your experience varies greatly based on the server you happen to be assigned for the evening. Unfortunately, our service was very very slow. We waited about 15 minutes to receive our cocktails (server said it was due to lack of glassware) okay, that’s fine! When we finally received our drinks, there were no garnishes. That might not be important to some, but to most guests expecting an “experience,” this left something to be desired. We ordered the pork belly to start. It was delicious but came after a wait. We had to savor it over a 25 minute span before we even got to order anything else because our server was no-where in sight. I had to flag down a nearby server to take our order & point out the table next to us waiting to cash-out who was also looking for him. We ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese & the Pork-chop, which was ordered Medium Well. I also ordered another round of my drink (Strawberry 75) and when it arrived, it was now in a martini glass rather than a coupe and again came with no garnish. After the food arrived, the Pork-chop had a warm pink center, which indicated a medium-rare temperature… we could have asked the server to take it back, but with the pace of the evening & with the server ping-ponging around the restaurant, we decided to eat the more cooked parts and take the rest home. Despite this, the entrees were still very delicious! After being there for a while, many tables had cleared out and we ordered a crème brûlée, which was also delicious. Between our entrees & dessert, I went to the restroom & the toilet was covered in urine & was clogged with toilet paper (ew), and when I walked back from the restroom I noticed the bartender brushing his hair behind the bar with 4-5 patrons sitting in front of him. This raised my eyebrow as I was very curious about the bartender who was cavalier enough to not garnish our drinks all night & put the same cocktail in different glasses, lol. All-in-all, the food truly is great but the service and the lack of attention to detail is not up to par with the level of quality a restaurant like this is meant to ensure. I think Teatro can greatly improve by equipping their servers with a system of order for managing their tables & refining the small details behind the bar. I likely won’t be back as I can go across the street for a highly consistent high-end experience in Grapevine but I do wish...
Read moreAfter having been ignored by the waitstaff at the place we went first, we traveled to Teatro and were amazed at the difference in service. The Bar Manager, Andrew, hearing that the hooks under the bar were not properly situated to allow me to hang my hat, installed another hook, properly situated, for just that purpose. He mixed us our drinks, as closely to perfection as can be expected of any human, and made sure that we were satisfied (We were more than satisfied). When we enquired about the menu, he went out of his way to explain to us all the special aspects thereof, and made the recommendation for a special that we ultimately decided upon. The special was a Chateaubriand on pureed carrots. We both had that, cooked medium rare, and we shared a side of grilled asparagus. We frequently don't finish entrees in restaurants; in the case, however, we finished completely and were just properly sated with the food. The chef, Ms. Carla Pellegrino, came out of the kitchen and talked to us, discussing the particulars of the dish and listening to our (complimentary) comments. We were able to finish our dinner in a relaxed manner, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would recommend this restaurant without reservation. Truly a...
Read moreA sad state of affairs. Walking in the pungent odor of cigar smoke lingered in the air. We were welcomed by a waitress who said she was the manager. She informed us the award winning chef is leaving to start her own place in Dallas and Teatro will probably become a pub and the restaurant was struggling. She turned out to be the “manager” the bartender and our waitress. We ordered martinis but were told they were out of Tito’s. We then were given the only two olives they had in stock. I ordered the lamb but was later informed they were out of lamb as the one other table in use took it all. I asked for bread , it finally came. After changing my order the food arrived and frankly it was outstanding. I was asked what dessert I would like for my birthday, it was a slice of cheesecake. We asked for coffee but their coffee machine was broken. The bill came, we paid it. The waitress returned to tell us it was the wrong tab and refunded our first charge. The new bill included a charge for bread, a charge for my birthday dessert and a credit card surcharge. Great food, horrible service and availability...
