For those that are wondering - that is a picture of "meatloaf"... Me and the family decided to try the new Park22 having never really been fans of the former Sunset Diner. We noted upon entry that the decor was very nice and certainly updated from what it used to look like. We were promptly seated and the waiter came over shortly thereafter. He was well-mannered, and everything seemed to be going smooth... We started to provide him with our order in which he seemed to be committing it to memory. This is a cool practice and kind of makes you look very attentive, but only if you get the order right (a preview to what went wrong). Drinks for delivered as fast as can be and a miscommunication in the appetizer ended up giving us vodka sauce covered mozzarella sticks (we were initially told it was chicken tenders) which were just okay. About 10 minutes after we ordered, we could hear a commotion from the kitchen about something we're not working correctly in the POS system and affecting my son's meatloaf order. This immediately had me watching the clock to see how long it would take to cook the correct food and get it out to us. Certainly didn't disappoint to note, as it took an additional 10 minutes. To add to the dismay, our waiter returned two times to confirm various options such as which fries, which toast... perhaps he should have wrote them down. If he had then they would have delivered me the correct omelet 20 minutes later, as I ordered a country (ham & mushroom) and was delivered a Western (peppers & onions). My son received what you are identifying in this picture as possibly meatloaf, or some sort of meat product that tastes about as good as it looks. He also ordered mixed vegetables and received only carrots, and a huge boat of gravy to try to cover up whatever that wheat toast looking slab of cured meat truly was. My omelet then almost completely returned to my table, but it had home fries instead of the pre-ordered french fries and immediately went back to the kitchen. By this point we probably should have left, but the punishment continued. The waiter realized the cacophony of errors that were affecting us in our faces could clearly show that we were not happy with our visit. He offered us desserts, to which my son grabbed a decent rice pudding in a Sunday bowl with a dollop of whipped cream and cinnamon. When he asked me if I wanted dessert compliments of the restaurant, I opted for the bread pudding which was immediately put into a to-go container without even asking me. Not wanting to temp fate I chose to leave, to enjoy my bread pudding at home. Something to note about bread pudding is that it requires a set time, a time to almost congeal with all of the ingredients and for the pudding to actually set up. As I was receiving my bread pudding I was told it was fresh... And that it was, having not been set up it was a pile of oil and butter with a couple pieces of bread and raisins mushed in it. I was gracious enough to give them three stars since they are new to the location, but as they've been in business many years with other locations I feel as though this was a poor excuse. Beware.

Yes!!! Go here. Twice in a week. Been here two times this week! (That’s like a marriage for me—I’m super picky by nature.) Out late the other night and everything seemed closed. It was literally here or White Castle. Can’t cut up White Castle but my son and I were pretty hungry so we stopped to try the Park22 and I am so glad we did. Who has a cheerful waitress after midnight?..this place! We were in search of some filling comfort food so went with a plate of Chicken and Waffle & Meatloaf w/gravy. All served its purpose. Back today for breakfast and it was the best! Dishes in photos: Oreo Pancakes, Scrapple, California Skillet (all the way…see note), & Jersey Border. Substantial portions, great taste served hot, good coffee, kind staff. Note: this place has been good about my requests…such as just meatloaf on a plate even if it is called a sandwich and about going all the way on the Cali Skillet (no potatoes) even going the extra mile to serve it over sautéed spinach for me. Thank you—thank you—thank you. Visit and you’ll be returning. It’s the kind of place that when you ask to buy a cookie on your way out they direct you to the freshest of them all. Additional notes: there is window seating of booths up front and that’s the way I go, it’s a bit busy and noisy up there but that’s my comfort zone (teach middle school) BUT…there is a softer, quieter side dining room if that’s your thing. Didn’t find a kids menu. All in all good, thank you for a great mealx2.

Creepy Uncle Dave here. I’ve been to many diners throughout my travels and have been to both good and bad. I showed up here at about 9:00pm to try to grab some grub. I’m hoping this one is just off its game. I gave it an overall rating 2 stars because I felt sorry for the wait staff. My boss once told me that even if the product we were selling sucked, as long as our delivery was great it would make all the difference. I told him I thought he was talking out the wrong end. But what do I know? Back to the matter at hand. The food was cold, the bacon on my BLT was old, bread not toasted. As for the grilled cheese, the cheese was just this side of being melted. It would have been more melted if I left it in the car all day during a Jersey summer day. But seeing we are in the fall that is not going to me possible. I’m not even going to talk about the fries. How does a diner mess up the one staple that all diners are based on. In any case, if you want to hang out and do some interesting people watching, this is the place to go.
