I would like to share one of the worst experiences I have ever received from getting my hair done by a worker named Amanda, at this Beauty Salon. I got my hair done in soft twists on May 31, by Amanda. First of all I was sitting across from the salon when she didn't even address me to see if I was her client, my appointment was at 9 a.m., no one was there, I tried calling to see if someone would pick up the phone, no answer. After sitting for awhile, I saw the African hair shop was open, so I asked if someone would be able to do my hair, because the lady who I scheduled my hair appointment with did not show. She felt so bad for me she called around to see if someone would be able to do it. Just as she was about to get someone, Amanda came walking to the salon. I asked if she was the who was scheduled to do my hair, and she said yes, trying to apologize. I needed it done so I went with her.
After she did my hair I was so happy I paid her extra, it looked very nice, but after I got home that night, the braids started falling out. It took her about 6 or 7 hours to do it. I called her the next day to let her know what happened, I wanted to go back that Sunday, but she said she did not work on Sundays. I told her I just got a new job and I couldn't miss work, that's why I got it done on that Saturday. I told her they are all slowly falling out, one by one. What I had to do, since I sometimes do my own hair, to keep them from continuing to fall out was braid them back in (I did not know how to do the twisted ones) and pin the hair up, and try to keep it there until I see her on the Saturday, the 14th of June, to get it redone. She said OK, that will work.
Since then I have been calling to confirm that she will be available to do it that day. It was confirmed to be by her Manager (Shanita) that it will be booked for me yesterday.
I called again today during my lunch to speak with Amanda, and make sure the same thing was not going to happen again about the appointment. When I spoke to Amanda today, she acted like she forgot about the appointment. I had to remind her about the situation and about the extra money I gave her as a tip. We has already gone through this. Then she agreed again, that she had my back.
She called me back around 6 p.m. today and said she had an appointment on Saturday at 12 p.m., I told her how could you schedule that appointment when you had to redo my entire head. The she started acting like she didn't know she had to do the entire hairdo again. After she realized she knew she had to do it again, she started talking about how much it would cost me to get it done again, and then quoting me their policy. She had said nothing about this all the other times I spoke with her.
I truly thought I had come to a new salon where they truly ,appreciated the customer, as we do them, but not this girl! I could not believe she was trying to charge me again for something that should have lasted me a month.
She had the nerve to send me an email saying the appointment this Saturday was cancelled. When I told her I would do this, she told me to do what I need to do.
I can't tell you which salon to go to, or which not to go to, I can only tell you about my experience there, and say to you "If you go there GOOD LUCK"!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF THIS...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW Had a great initial experience. Unfortunately this time wasn't the same. I scheduled an appointment for my son directly through text with Jaguar(the owner). I got him there on time. He was seated in a timely manner. Unfortunately he absolutely did not get the hair style he was suppose to get! I'm not sure where the miscommunication came into play as I was very specific (sent a picture and a link from there own IG page) about the style he wanted. My son just turned 18. This was literally his first time in a hair salon. I wasn't able to make it when he first got there because I was working, but I also didn't think I needed to be there if we had clearly discussed the hair style, time and price. I reached out to Jaguar immediately when I picked him up via text. Sent a pic of his hair and asked her to contact me so we could discuss it further and figure out a resolution for this as needless to say my son is not happy at all. In spite of him not being happy he still paid in full, thanked the lady for doing his hair and left peacefully. His feelings were so hurt because he was really looking forward to this new style, had plans and all that were just kinda of crushed. He had no energy to try even ask "what in the world have you done to my hair?!" He doesn't want to return to the salon which in turn makes me not want to return. This is so disappointing because I really thought I found the "hair home" for my family and I. Guess not. BTW in case you're wondering it has been going on 4 days and Jaguar nor anyone on her team has not returned my text of concern. SMH
INITIAL REVIEW Jaguar did my hair and she did an awesome job. I got a sew in with little leave out. It's been almost a week and I'm as happy with my hair today as I was when I first got it done. I felt welcomed from the moment I step foot in there. All of the stylist were genuinely nice and happy to be at work. You can tell when the owner is taking care of the building AND staff! There service is great, prices are super competitive, place is clean all COVID protections taken above and beyond. They offer all kinds of hair services for women and men. I'm getting ready to schedule an appointment for son and daughter right now!! Yes, I'm that happy with the services I received. I truly have found my hair home and I never plan...
Read moreI got my install done by Jaguar on December 13th. It was snowing that day and I called multiple times to inform them that I was running late, no one ever answered the phone. I attempted to get in contact with her through the Mayveen site and as I was walking in someone responded back with her contact number. When I informed Jaguar and showed her that I called multiple times she brushed it off. When I arrived I was asked to give someone my hair as someone else escorted me to the bowl. The young lady washing my hair was very rough while she was trying to comb through my hair while wet. Afterwards, Jaguar started doing my hair, the braiding was extremely fast, very tight and rough. I explained to her that I usually donât buy closures, Jaguar didnât explain anything to me while she was doing my hair. It took her about an hour to complete the install which was impressive and although everything was super tight, the finish product looked exactly like the work that she posts online. As we were wrapping up, I ask her does she accept tips via card. She responded by saying yes, I told her great, please charge me $20. She responded back and said okay that will be a total charge of $50. I was very confused and asked where the additional charge is coming from as I gave her the Mayveen free install voucher. She stated there was a $30 late fee applied. I donât understand why that wasnât explained in the beginning. I also donât understand why she never extended any apologies or grace for her not being responsive. I love to support black women which is why I paid and respected her policy despite me experiencing bad customer service. Four weeks after my install I returned to my regular stylist who had to assist me in taking out Jaguarâs install. The headbands that she put on to secure the closure were entirely too tight and it dug into my skin to the point where it broke skin. Although her installs look good online, the quality of service youâre getting is very poor. And everything that she does to make your install look âInstagram worthyâ can actually be very damaging to your hair and scalp. I do not recommend this...
