Let's get to it. As I walked in the side door, I had flashbacks to Ball State frat parties of the mid-90s. (Thanks to the music selection) But my attention was immediately driven to the huge & colorful menus behind the counter, and the giant beer dispenser within arms distance. For starters: After being greeted by a pleasant young man and read off our order to get things cookin' we picked our seat among five or six large televisions, mostly something sports related, which really helped my wife and I to get settled into the ambiance. The food came to our table rather quickly. (Under ten minutes) I was taken back just a tad that our wings were "plated," not just thrown in a sloppy pile. These bones were lined up like 45-year-old women trying to get NKOTB tickets. Perfect and congruent. Impressive‼️ The Atomic wings are more meaty than any wings I've ever eaten! Even the Ale emporium in Castleton and Southport. And if you know ur wings, you know A.P. sets the bar for wings in Indy, hands down. 👐 That's my way of saying, "Well done, Atomic! #2 The sauces are very familiar to me. You will definitely recognize two of the three flavors I indulged in this evening. Parmesan Garlic and Thai Chili-- The P.g is identical to BW3. Which I'm cool with. Great flavor. There was a minutus of odd flavore that came at the back end. It wasn't much..all said, this flavor is fire🔥! The Thai chili was a super sweet glaze. It's your typical Thai chili. It's hard to screw that up. It could have used more red chili flakes or fresh chili's. The Fire Cracker waffle fries...meh. I ended up dipping them in a side of Atomic Hot sauce. Speaking of, it was a good heat & not overbearing. It's definitely a vinegar sauce. But the flavor is unique. I'll definitely be putting that sauce around my wings on the next trip. The parmesan garlic flatbread was a nice change from the normal. The crust was flaky, and the wife enjoyed it. I saw a few milkshakes fly outta there, too. Im Gonna have to snag one of them next go-round! They serve Pepsi. He LL yea!! Mt Dew for days, Son! The bathrooms were clean and stocked. There are no paper towels, but they do have a custom blue Xlerator hand dryer. BUT, there was no toe hook on the door, and there was no access to paper towels. This means in order to open the door, I had to use my shirt. Bummer. One more recommendation...ditch the San Jamar napkin dispensers! Put a roll of paper towels on the table or have as an option upon entering. So my critique may seem picky. But really, that's a good thing. Because this place has very little to criticize. It's my favorite wing spot from here on out & I have to drive 30 minutes to get there. My next closest restaurant is in Chicago. Bravo Atomic Wings!! Get the grilled wings going Greenfield!! You have something great going! And welcome to the...
Read moreMy honest review....I was excited to tryout the new wings place. I know just opening up they would be busy so I opted to order online the minute they opened for lunch. Online ordering was a breeze, very easy to do. I ordered a 5c traditional wing all flats with ranch and bbq jerk on the side, order of waffle fries with aioli and an order of fried Oreos for 19.18. My husband went to pick it up for me..he said the staff was super nice and the place was super clean. I always order wings naked at places and dips on the side. That being said the wings weren't seasoned at all with nothing..no salt no pepper ..nothing. They were nice and crispy but dry. The ranch was very good and the jerk bbq was outstanding just the right amount of jerk seasoning ratio to bbq sauce. I ordered waffle fries with their Aioli. I got waffle fries no Aioli. The waffle fries were soggy and again no seasoning to them at all...no salt...no nothing. The fried Oreos we very good.. can't really mess up a fried Oreos unless you fry it in old grease and that wasn't the case at all. Overall I wasn't impressed with the food...it was edible at best. But they did provide wet naps which another reviewer said would be nice if they did so I'm glad they are listening to reviews. Would I go back....maybe to try the boneless or strips at some point but I would eat in there instead of ordering online.
Update**My son wanted to try them and so I gave them a second chance and ordered on 5/16/24. This time we had a much better experience. The wings were meaty and juicy. Don't know if they were seasoned because this time I had them tossed in sauce. BBQ jerk was of course delish and my son got the garlic Parm which was good as well. They remembered all the sauces ..their ranch was super tasty, blue cheese was ok and their aoli was ok as well. Fries were good this time as well. My daughter wanted the Nutella fried Oreos and the only complaint she had was one wasn't completely cooked and had raw batter still inside. Overall a much...
Read moreThe food is fresh, delicious, the value is spot-on. They are not afraid of seasoning their chicken! Unlike a familiar large-chain wings place very nearby.
We have had the fried chicken sandwich, both dressed and with sauce on the side. It was crunchy and juicy. Worth it in my opinion. The breading is seasoned so nicely, not too salty and not too thick. I dare say this was my favorite chicken sandwich I have ever had, and that’s saying a lot. I plan to try other varieties/toppings soon.
We also had plain waffle fries, and Parmesan garlic truffle. Either way, you can’t go wrong. The right amount of seasoning and substantial. They taste like the actual potato, and not just a greasy after thought.
And to save the best for last - the wings. We prefer ours naked with sauce on the side. I’m not good at spicy and hubs can handle the spiciest of sauces - as long as there’s a good flavor to the sauce. Normally that means that we get rather dry, shriveled up wings that NEED sauce to save them. (I usually abstain if hubs has to have his wing fix, as a result) However at Atomic Wings, the wings are meaty, seasoned, and not overcooked into oblivion. They actually taste good without being sauced. They don’t need sauce to save them, or to hide that they’ve got an inferior product. They’re actually seasoned and delicious. Total game-changer for me, and he reports that the sauces are tasty, claiming Atomic as his favorite, mango habanero his 2nd favorite.
Their blue cheese is tasty, and so is their ranch. I really enjoyed the honey mustard dip. (Non-spicy girl) We also tried fried Oreos, which I’ve never had and really enjoyed.
The only bummer I can report is that they serve Pepsi products, but if you get takeout then it won’t matter!
Caveat: We did have a few issues on our first visit - which turned out to be their grand opening. It was nothing terribly unforgivable, and their management was quick to resolve our minor concern.
I was so excited to eat (both times) that I forgot to take many...
