D T's Tavern — Restaurant in Greenville

If I could give less than one star I would after the experience that I had with COURTNEY, the bartender on 6/16/2018. I am just getting a chance to write a review because that night was my wedding night and I am just getting to rating my vendors and the businesses that I dealt with that weekend. I decided to bring my wedding party and several guests to DT's Tavern for drinks and fun after my wedding. We entered the bar at abut 11:30pm. It was a very crowded bar but I have been to DT's in the past and I typically have a very good time there. I had about 30-40 people with me on this night as there was 22 people in my wedding party and several guests followed us to the bar. I approached the bar as soon as I entered and was immediately attacked by a guest who felt that I got too close to him. I am a young black female and he was a white male in his mid 30s- early 40s. Once I was able to gather myself from this, I stood at the bar for several minutes waiting for COURTNEY to acknowledge me and she ignored me while continuing to serve others but it was very busy so I understood and waited patiently. After about 6-8 minutes one of the groomsmen from my wedding party approached me at the bar and attempted to get COURTNEY's attention by simply repeating "excuse me ma'am". She was standing a foot away from us and rather than using proper customer service and letting us know she would be with us in a moment, she proceeded to become very nasty telling us that we were GOING to wait because she believed we were being rude (which I do not understand because me nor this groomsman said anything disrespectful to her). The groomsman left after about 5 minutes of being ignored by COURTNEY. I waited about another 5 minutes for her and soon some of the other people who came in approached me to find out what was taking so long. I noticed at this point that COURTNEY was serving individuals who already had drinks and who had just walked up to the bar so I asked her if she was refusing to serve me. She yelled to me that she was because I was being rude to her and then proceeds to ring the bell for security to remove me. As I was trying to explain to her that I was no longer trying to order a drink I was just trying to tell her that I had plenty of business for her in the building she continued to ring the bell, and the same man who initially attacked me at the bar began to yell insults at me again. I left the building without having to be removed because again this is my wedding night and I was not about to let someone's RACIST behavior ruin that. So my husband approached Courtney just to make sure that everything was ok and as soon as he started speaking she rang the bell for security to come and remove him. We spoke to the security guard and he stated that this is not the first time that something like this has happened. I was very disappointed as I have been to DT's multiple times and I could not believe the way that I was treated. I felt that her behavior was a direct result of her own bias towards people of color. She felt threatened for absolutely no reason. She called security on my, a 5ft1, completely sober bride on my wedding night because I tried to order a drink. Given the fact that people of color die on what seems to be a daily basis due to people calling the police (security) for absolutely no reason, I feel that Courtney should be removed from her position. She is a threat to patrons of color at this bar and obviously has no concept of the meaning of customer service. Classic...

Bartenders are a bunch of entitled jerks that order ubers and make the drivers wait while they suddenly decide to go out back and smoke when the driver arrives while they can be making money. When informed that the drivers can't wait, they tell the driver to start the "meter", except the drivers make only 4.20 cents a hour when standing still, hence further telling the driver " here's 60 cents while you wait for us to go smoke". They get ticked when you tell them you can only hold for 5 minutes and call you a "st dk" and then try to physically threaten you. Captured this all on dash cam and will be posting to youtube.

Update: Attempted to threaten and intimidate me to remove this review on July 20th using their Facebook account. Whoever is running their fb account has reached...

Only reason I'm giving this bar two stars is because of Courtney, she's an amazing bartender with great personality and she makes great drinks/shots. Other than that: The music sucks, the disposable cups are trashy, and the bouncers are useless. BUT I will never be stepping foot in this bar ever again because of how I was treated by the male barstaff. They get wasted and angry at customers around closing time for absolutely no reason. I was simply asking what the address was so I could get my drunk friend an uber only to be cursed out not once but TWICE, the second time while I was standing outside waiting for said uber....
