I went to this place yesterday after knowing that they are the no 1 coffee shop in Greenville. However, the coffee is just like a usual nothing very special. I am a coffee graduate from a coffee school so I can tell this that I can make better coffee at my home. I would prefer other coffee places such as village grind coffee for better coffee experience. Food was good not the best though. The ambience of the place is nice gives you feeling of underground place. Furniture could be little better as I felt falling down more than twice.
For the people who wants to go and work here on their laptops: they only offer 2 hour Wi-Fi pass with min $5.00 purchase. Which is okay and understandable. However if you in the middle of the call or meeting and using their Wi-Fi make sure you get another code with another purchase as your meeting is going to end as soon as 2 hours are done. No grace period or no asking for new code so you can extend the Wi-Fi.
I would say this more a chit chat friendly cafe to go where you can have nice brunch or lunch or breakfast or dinner but not for usual coffee place where you go and work with your cup of coffee and some food.
Please improve the quality of the lattes and coffee. I purchased two lattes but both were okay and taste differently as the barista was not managing espresso machine heads according to crowd. If you want to know more about how you can improve your coffee I can come and...
Read moreI have not written a review in years, but NEED to write one for this place. Love, love, LOVE this gem, and am so grateful it exists in the heart of Greenville. This is not an exaggeration: I literally came here 8 different days in a timespan of 10 days. Service is impeccable and attentive to detail. Morning weekday barista (tall man who looked like a manager or potential owner) knew my order by heart on my THIRD visit. By the time I got to the front of the line, he had my order all prepped and ready for me to take (and this occurred again whenever he worked there). Incredibly impressed. I've been to other coffee shops probably over 40+ times in a short timespan and yet the same barista there does not have the slightest clue what my order may be or what my name is (trust me, I've asked if she remembers).
The atmosphere is a very laid-back, chill coffee shop vibe with lots of GREAT indie music playing in the background (I need to ask for their playlist). Tons of seating, not cramped whatsoever. I also consistently get the farmer quiche when I visit. If you're looking for a sandwich, tuna melt was pretty solid. Thank you, Coffee Underground, for hosting my long solo study sessions and being so kind to me. I will absolutely return whenever I come back to Greenville. Hands-down, the best study coffee shop I've visited in my life-- not too loud, great background...
Read moreFirst I want to say how much I love this place. The atmosphere and coffee is fantastic. In college I would come here and watch films downstairs for my Art classes, super cool. I have a teen now that loves to meet up with her friends at the CU and chat for a bit while each one gets a coffee and dessert. We went at night and it was super chill. Once we went during the day with my younger daughter to get me a much needed coffee and them some desserts and was told by the host that we can’t sit in the open couches due to they are on a rotation. We just ate and just wanted to chill with dessert on the little couch like we do at night. I was not aware that they had included those couches as a rotation. The host proceeded to take us to the back to a small table, we felt forced and I didn’t like it so I said we’ll just go since the atmosphere was no longer setting right and we ordered our stuff to-go, I saw the host apologizing to the server so when she left I spoke with the server so she didn’t feel like it was her fault that we were leaving and I tipped her anyway since I know how hard it is to be a server on a Sunday. I think we’ll stick with the later hours since that is what...
