Before staying here at Hyatt Regency in Greenville, I’ve always had pleasant experiences. I actually seek out the hyatts and specifically call locations prior to booking to make sure to check their pet policies as we travel with a very tiny elderly dog. It’s very frustrating that Hyatt’s policies are not the same across the board from their Hyatt “Places, Houses, & Regency”. I was told by a rep from the customer service number along with the operator from the Greenville hotel that it was fine to leave the animal in the room- “people do this all the time as long as we have a valid number to get a hold of you if something happens.” We’ve stayed at Hyatt regency in different states and had zero problems with leaving for dinner and coming back. Now, I understand if a dog is causing noise then you would need to come back. Our animal typically just sleeps. Obviously if dogs hear something that startled them they are going to bark. I mean who can go travel on a trip and take their animal everywhere??- the policy itself is the dumbest thing ever. If you’re going to be a pet friendly hotel why would you ever make a policy that you can’t leave them in a room that you’re paying extra for and PAYING to stay there? Makes no sense. My issue isn’t even that though, it’s one thing to call and ask to come back as we were unaware of this because we were given wrong information, but then the woman who called; Christine, was so beyond rude. She called about the dog barking which is fine, I understand, I’d say I’d be back as soon as possible which was literally 5 minutes, then she proceeded to continue to repeat herself on the phone when I already said I’m sorry I’m unaware of that policy for this hotel. I was already having issues with the app which I always book on and thought that was all inputted into the app and I guess it wasn’t. I generally do everything electronically. Even when I had to come in and check in, the young man there who was VERY nice even said “yes sorry for some reason there has been issues with the online app”. Christine could of simply said please come back as soon as possible come review and sign the policy, but instead she didn’t want to hear anything I had to say and completely disregarded it and kept repeating herself on coming to sign the paper, needing to pay more, and if it’s a continued problem that she would need to ask us to leave- she repeated these statements 5-6x with completely disregarding what I had to say. The 2 other people at the front desk, the young man and other woman were just standing there nodding their heads at what I was saying while Christine just continued on saying the same statements over and over, the way she went about it was just so beyond rude. I will definitely not be staying at Hyatt’s again and will seek out a different hotel with more understanding pleasant staff and better policies. There is more I can say about the hotel itself, but other than being a good location to walking into downtown Greenville there’s nothing special about the place and can use tons of upgrades as many other people already mentioned these in the...
Read moreWe’ve stayed here before and I will still say that this place is very clean…. The beds are comfortable. The big TV with the cabinet is beautiful but the bathroom needs a serious upgrade. They don’t even have handicap bars in the tub, which is usually standard for most hotels regardless of whether you get a handicap room or not. There isn’t any microwave or refrigerator but they do have a cooler and I’m going to assume the reason for that is that they have a restaurant on site. They also have a Starbucks. The atrium is beautiful and it does have a bar which is really nice. The bartender, however, does not know how to make drinks. The most negative thing that I will say about this hotel is that we were thoroughly disappointed with the New Year’s Eve party that we attended this past weekend. We paid a fairly large amount of money for our tickets and was expecting this to be a great party but the food was questionable and the drinks were all well liquor even though it was included in the ticket price. My husband drank one drink and didn’t even finish it. My husband also tried the cold cuts, and I tried the pulled pork. Both of them were questionable and maybe prepared by a grocery store or something. The music was provided by a DJ, in one room and it was so loud that it was beating through my body and blowing my ear drums out and it was the worst music I’ve ever heard, the room was extremely dark and they didn’t have very much seating at all. The second room was dark as well and there was a rock band, and the singer was really bad and they were playing songs that I’ve never even heard. We were under the assumption that they were going to have all different types of music because according to the description of the party on the website for Eventbrite, that’s what it said, but like I said, it was the worst music I’ve ever heard, If I wanted to go to a bar, I would’ve just went to a bar, but we really got dressed up for this occasion and spent a little extra money on our clothes just to look good. We ended up going outside of the party and ordering something from the hotel food menu and bought our drinks from the bar that was in the lobby because we could not listen to that music any longer. On top of that, they did not even play the standard music that you hear on NEW YEARS EVE and the classic song at the end of the night before they have the actual countdown, ‘auld lang syne’ was not even played And they didn’t even have the countdown. Midnight came and went and thank God we were out in the lobby at the atrium bar, and those people all raised their drinks and said happy new year. I’m going to assume the event planner at the hotel planned this party. Whoever it was needs to go back to party planning school and find out how to throw a party especially for New Year’s Eve, since that is a very special night. While we wanted this to be the best night of the year, it turned out to be almost one of the worst nights of the...
Read moreI recently enjoyed a two-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Greenville and, as someone who loves discovering new places, I found the experience largely satisfying—with a few caveats and little quirks along the way.
What I liked • The hotel is beautifully placed in downtown Greenville, making it effortlessly convenient to step outside and wander into shops or dine in town—an environment I relish when traveling. • Architecturally and aesthetically, the property feels elegant without being overly ostentatious. The atrium-style lobby and the exterior improvements over the years lend a sense of refined calm. It is a little dated feeling. Not old fashioned but just not new. • I was delighted that the hotel is dog-friendly, and I appreciated that they welcomed my sweet girl (my dog) with open arms (and a wagging tail). The policy allows dogs up to 50 lbs (or two dogs with combined weight up to 75 lbs) and there are fees involved—but it’s clear they genuinely accommodate our four-legged companions. • My bed was very comfortable—just what I needed after a day on the move. Although I was glad I had brought my own pillow (old habit, travel comfort), the bed was a good foundation. • The coffee shop attached to the hotel offers friendly baristas, good cappuccinos and lattes, and a welcoming vibe—perfect for relaxing or catching up on a little work. • Breakfast offered in the on-site restaurant was pretty good—ample variety, decent quality—and felt like a solid start to the day.
Areas for improvement • The water pressure in the shower was a little disappointing. For a hotel of this expected calibre, I anticipated a bit more strength in the fixture. • While the room was cleaned decently, I did notice on my floor, near the elevator, some rather large food crumbs remained there for my entire stay. It wasn’t in my room itself, but the common floor area—not ideal and a bit surprising. • They don’t offer formal “room service” in the traditional sense, which I found a little limiting given the full-service feel elsewhere. Instead, there is an attached restaurant which will deliver food to rooms for a charge—serviceable, but not quite the same. • Speaking of the restaurant, while the food is fine, it is a bit pricey—so expect the bill to reflect that.
Overall impression
In short: this is a well-positioned, comfortably appointed hotel that offers many of the amenities and niceties one hopes for when traveling. It won’t feel extravagantly luxurious—rather, it strikes a pleasant balance between quality and everyday convenience. The dog-friendly policy is a highlight for me, and the architectural touches and central location give it a distinct advantage. If I were to stay here again, I would (and likely will) with the correct expectations: comfortable, refined, and reliable—with just a few small issues to...
