Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Here are pros and cons from my perspective.
Pros: The bar on a Friday night was popping (awesome). DJ played great music/old school jams (R&B), nice crowd, drink was pretty good. It was wet outside, otherwise would have been sweet to be able to sit outside. Great location - some good options of various places to walk to (restaurants, shopping, etc). We never had to use our car the entire stay, 3 nights. Very spacious room. I reserved King room with separate living and sleeping areas. In my opinion, those are the better option when it comes to hotels (separate living space) . Front desk staff encountered were all friendly and polite.
Cons: There is a small kitchen area with a sink: would be good if paper towels were available to wash hands at sink. Noticed a few ants on the bathroom window sill Friday night. Got them up with tissue. The last night I was there in bed, I felt something crawling on my shoulder area. It was an ant. The next morning I woke up, I had two bites near my armpit/ shoulder. Guess the ant got me before I killed it. The blinds are controlled by remote. However, they do not go all the way down (no proper blackout). It leaves about a good 1/2 inch of space in which light comes through. There is a lack of storage for clothes. No drawers to store clothes. Having one actually in the bedroom would be great. Although we were on the 9th floor, oddly you could hear noise from street level. I didn't like how one light switch controlled the bathroom vanity area, the shower area and the toilet area. All three of these spaces are separated. Also, the bar tab comes with sales tax and alcohol tax (I think it was those two) but to me, it was excessive. Also, had a parking warning because out car was backed into a space. Guess this is a SC law but we were not aware and nowhere in the parking garage did we see anything noting not to back in. Thankfully we just got a warning and it's nothing we had to pay. Maybe the person that gave the ticket saw we were from out of state and gave the warning. But this would be nice to have signs up that backing in is not allowed or front desk can alert upon check-in.

Read morewas for my anniversary. We got the corner suite. Check in was good. But we had several problems with the room and the hotel that I feel like shouldnât have been an issue for how much we paid for two nights. The moved us to another room for the second night, which was extremely inconvenient and not on the floor we wanted. All they said they could do was refund us the $14 parking charges and two free drinks at the bar because we book through a third party. I didnât feel like trying with them anymore because I felt like I spent enough time trying to solve this issues. I took pictures of most of the issues and Iâm planning on posting a review to all travel pages so others know. Staying in one of the most (if not the most) expensive room I expected so much more. I wanted to love it because Iâm local and I love what they do with the dogs but I donât know if I can go through this again and pay that much for the same experience.
Also the pool was tiny and only went 3.5â they removed the knobs from the fire pit so you canât use it. The ice freezer was awful on every floor. There is no ice machine, they bag the ice for you. And they are ALL frozen blocks of ice!!! Completely unstable. I told them and they said theyâll tell maintenance but never offered to get me ice some other way.
The bartender was the shunning star. We have different drink request and we was attentive and friendly.
The room was dirtier than expected with stains on fabrics and floors. Nasty mess on doors that is cleanable but no one had. The ottoman wasnât pulled out and cleaned so there was food and crumbs.
The bathtub was broken. The drain was pulled out when we checked in. I called and maint came in and just pushed it back in. This did NOT fix it. The water would drain regardless of it being closed because the lever under the faucet didnât work either. The whirlpool features also didnât work, which was one of our main reasons for...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights. Between the two of us our keys had to be reset 5 times. They blamed tech. I travel all the time and have never had this many problems with keys.
Our rooms were to be next to each other. If they could not accommodate adjacent king rooms they should have offered up choices. Instead, we were on opposite ends of the rooftop cabana floor and had to shuttle food, drinks chairs, etc from one side to the other. Our friendâs porch fan did not work, and their A/C was not working well, therefore it ran constantly.
It was a very hot weekend. When we asked for pool umbrellas they said the were all broken and âorderedâ.
The dog park is right be the pool. There are only eight lounge chairs, half (4) of which are right by the stinky dog park. Apparently, attendants were not cleaning it regularlyâŠ. Or maybe pet owners were notâŠ..but something should change.
Our room also was not the cleanest. Upon entering the bathroom we found a dead bug.
Then we saw a sage/green colored powder on a pullout drawer in the closet. It appeared to be curryâŠ.obviously had not been cleaned.
Housekeeping knocked the next morning. Through the door we explained we would be out to the pool in two minutes. Three to four hours later, room had not been cleaned. When then got back to us they explained they would not have time to clean, but graciously got us clean towels.
The bathroom sink did not drain properlyâŠ..very slooooooow! There was an obvious problem because the plug looked to have been worked on a lot, with dents etc, but still would not move up or down.
All, and all, this is so below my experiences with Marriott. I have been a Rewards member for some time, and am so because of the high caliber of rooms, service, and amenities. This stay did not measure up.
