Our experience at the restaurant was a blend of exceptional and disappointing moments. Our chef, fondly known as "Piggy," was truly remarkable, and the food was delicious, deserving every accolade. However, the rest of the experience left much to be desired.
When we arrived, we were informed that we couldn't be seated until the other couple we were expecting had arrived. We asked if we could order drinks while we waited, but the hostess told us there was no bartender available. I mentioned that it was a birthday celebration and inquired about arranging something special, like a small cake or ice cream, after our meal. She confirmed it could be done for an extra charge, which I agreed to, and she assured me she would take care of it.
Once seated, we placed our drink orders. The two gentlemen with us ordered drinks—one with a double shot of whiskey and Coke, and the other with a double shot of vodka and Coke. When the waitress brought the drinks, they seemed to contain no alcohol. We asked her to return, and she insisted she had made them with alcohol herself. We then requested the manager, who verified there was no alcohol in the drinks and agreed to take them back. The gentlemen then requested two glasses of Coke, along with separate shots of vodka and whiskey. Initially, the waitress refused, but after consulting the manager again, she returned with two short glasses, one with vodka and one with whiskey. Despite her claims that they were doubles, it was evident they were not, as our photos clearly show.
After our meal, I went to the restroom while we settled the bill. I stopped the waitress to ask about the birthday item we had requested. She said the hostess hadn’t informed her. My husband and our guests were already ready to leave, but I stayed behind to speak with the hostess. She understood I was unhappy. I reminded her of my earlier request for the birthday surprise and her agreement to the additional charge, which I had accepted. She admitted she remembered but had simply forgotten. This oversight would be understandable if they were busy, but they weren’t; she had been chatting with the same colleague since our arrival.
This was, undoubtedly, the worst service I've experienced at this restaurant. The only praise I can offer is to the chef, who truly deserves five stars for the outstanding food. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing and dishonest.
The attached photos were taken at our home. I want everyone to see how they overcharge you without delivering what...
Read moreVery friendly staff, we got a table, not the show. Food came quickly. GF ordered the tempura chicken and veggies, and beef gyoza. The gyoza came from a bag and was previously frozen. I can get better frozen gyoza at h-mart in Plano or Carrollton. Big bag for half the price, and better quality since it's an import. Veggies came out with tempura batter, chicken came out covered in panko (bread crumbs), not tempura (a wet batter). The chicken was overcooked and dry, veggies were ok. I got the chicken breast, pretty standard fair. Came with mixed veggies and fried or steamed rice. I got the fried rice and it didnt have much to it. It was either brown rice, or cooked in a sauce combo that was bland. At other teppanyaki places they will put egg and some bean sprouts in there. Seasoning was somewhat bland compared to other teppanyaki places, portions were small for the price paid. Sushi was a bit pricey for the quantity and quality, 6 or 8 peices is 13 to 20 dollars? Can go to zen sushi in frisco, all you can eat for $13, and it's the same selection and menu for sushi and the same appetizers come included.
I understand its about the show, but there are other teppanyaki places with the exact same show; with better food and cheaper prices, in plano and dallas. Mixed bag from me, only because I've had better at other places in a driveable distance. Be expecting a bill of 40+ for two people if you go, once again you are mostly paying for the show. I eat a lot of authentic asian food, so I may be a bit too harsh.
A few tipa to the restaurant. Add a bit of salt to the tempura batter, your dipping sauce doesnt have enough soy sauce, or it has low sodium soy sauce, which makes it overall bland. Tempura chicken should be fried in tempura, not panko... use chinese broccoli in your mixed veggies, not western brocolli. While I do like our broccoli, I would prefer it to be a slight bit more authentic. For the price you should also include a small okonomiyaki (costs a dollar to make) or some form of fried noodles, as well. Season and prepare fried rice a bit better, with more ingredients, and give more options for rice. Would recommend Calrose rice instead of whatever rice...
Read moreI've eaten at several Japanese style steak houses, but to compare this restraunt to them would be unfair to actual Japanese Steak houses.
We started with a chef that had zero personality, and everyone knows that that's half of the reason you go to a Japanese Steak house. He starts to cook one order out of our 6 orders by itself. He looks at my brother and asks him if he brought his own soy sauce, to which my brother awkwardly answers no. Come to find out they sent the wrong chef to out table and he was prepping the food for someone who has a food allergy at another table. After they realize their mistake they grab a plate and take it to the correct table so they wouldn't have to cook it again.
After waiting about 10 minutes they then send a chef to our table. This chef must have been in his first week because he struggled with every trick. He kept dropping his spatula when he would try to flip and covered it up by joking about it. I will give him credit that he had so much more personality than the first guy. He then try to toss the eggs and missed splattering egg in my brothers face. He did apologize. He moves on to prep the fried rice. As he is mixing the rice he starts slinging rice everywhere, and again hits my brother in the face with rice. Again he apologizes. Next he starts to prep the steak where he proceeds to accidentally dump an absorbent amount of pepper on the steaks. But the final straw was at the end when my brother realized they had not brought the extra chicken that he ordered. When he asked the chef about it the chef looks at his plate, then at my brothers wife's plate and then back at him and says, I think I miss calculated how much chicken to bring out. He does however have someone bring him the needed ingredients to cook the ordered food.
I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one simply because of the last chef. While it wasnt the best experience i do feel like he tried hard and worked through situations that others may have given up on. Needles to say I will be marking this location off of my list of Japanese...
