Putnam Restaurant — Restaurant in Greenwich

Went in for breakfast (1st time ever) & was greeted immediately, was advised I can sit where ever I'd like, menus & water were provided for as soon as I sat down as well. My server, Debbie, was amazing, extremely attentive, cheerful, polite, and funny. She reminded me of the servers from an old diner I lived by, she def makes the place! It's like she knew us immediately & was def ontop of her "game". I usually am pretty basic with breakfast so I ordered eggs over medium, toast, homefries, and bacon all for $5.95. Cant be beat! The bacon was P E R F E C T & homefries were delicious. To me eggs are eggs,lol but they were cooked to my specification. My spouse had the same thing and french toast with bananas. The french toast was delicious and super soft. I've never had French toast that was this good, not even my own! I will DEFINITELY return, I will most definitely recommend this place to my friends and coworkers.

If I could give this place a negative 10 I would ! For starters if you are BLACK do not come to this place you will be stared down by every customer you come in contact with. Secondly the establishment itself is not so sanitary the chairs are greasy. Be prepared to wear your coat while eating it’s freezing ! We ordered our food which was off the breakfast menu . They had no clue what a “boiled egg” was . Bought out the food and instead was given fried egg whites . When explained to waiter that we instead wanted “boiled eggs “ the first thing he said was “well you will be charged for both I can’t take it off the bill.” That statement alone I was blown away by, I’m guessing seeing we were the only black people in the establishment we wanted something for free . The food is basic nothing extraordinary ! The setting needs a deep cleaning . I never received so many stares in any establishment I have been in . They are very rude! I was picking up a order from Grubhub, they told me exactly my order, the order was on the counter & the person kept telling me to wait. The restaurant was completely empty. I waited over 15 minutes & when i went to ask again they told me the didn’t have no order, that maybe it was upstate somewhere, meanwhile i have the address on the app & i cant confirm i arrived at a wrong address 🤔. I called grubhub, grubhub was trying to call them & they didn’t want to answer, i had grubhub on the phone & he didn’t want to speak to them. A customer walked in & was treated way differently from me. After half an hour grubhub canceled the order. I might as well bleach my skin when i go into certain places because the way an African American & a caucasian person gets treated sometimes is crazy.
