Can’t shake this conversation from my head DAYS LATER
If you’re looking for a review of the food? It’s honestly subpar, the Sysco fries aren’t seasoned and the gyro isn’t anything special. Truly, I recommend Garbanzo over this place any day for quality/taste/price/environment.
I’m sure the owner is great, sounds like he is from the comments. Unfortunately, he was busy cooking while I had the unpleasant time spent with his wife and 2 kids.
The experience first started off great, I read the reviews and was super excited to support a mom and pop shop!! I walked in and had my order taken by their daughter who was very pleasant and respectful. After I paid for my To-go order (I only ordered a gyro and fries, $15, eh support local business) I sat down to wait. I noticed a Christian painting on the wall and asked about it, as to strike up a conversation since I also identify as a Christian. Woof. BIG MISTAKE.
The wife, of the owner, and I started chit chatting. I told her I was visiting from Texas and there opened the flood gates….. Oh how I WISH I could go back in time and just ask for a refund and walkout….sadly I didn’t.
She started asking me how badly the immigrants were ruining Texas//the United States. By being stereotypical and ignorant just regurgitating the Facebook posts that she has seen. I kindly tried to steer the conversation towards something less umm how do you say DEROGATORY to HUMAN LIVES. There was so much that she said and I genuinely can’t believe I sat there and paid them. By the way, if you’re a POC that enjoys Mediterranean food? They allow their children to call each other “White Monkey” whilst trying to be mean and demanding.
D E P L O R A B L E.
To be honest, I should’ve said something however I was in shock with my head just hung real low, concerned for our future.
Truly wish I could get my money back.
Go anywhere else if you care about supporting a business with integrity.
To the owners; I will continue to pray that He opens your heart up to love and grants you the wisdom to see people for people. I urge you to look past skin color, past race, past ethnicity, past religion, past sexuality. See the person that HE created in His image, & give respect.
As I said in the restaurant, you were talking to a first generation American and you didn’t even know it until the foot was in your mouth. I’m proud of my mother, a Guatemalan immigrant, I’ve achieved a lot in life because of her sacrifices and whether you’d like to believe it or not…… immigrants built this county. God bless.
Update: chit chat does not involve talking and degrading other human beings just because they aren’t a Us citizen, you of all people should know that.
Also just completely ignore your son Oliver, calling his sister a WHITE MONKEY. That’s unacceptable and not out of context or misread. That’s racist...

The 1st booth inside the front door had a young couple with a toddler in a high chair. He wanted us to sit at the table right beside that which would have put the toddler in the high chair about 16" away from me. I said no I don't want to sit there and I pointed to an empty booth on the other side of the room. He pointed back to the table and put menus on it and again I cannot see my self sitting 16" away from the back of this high chair with the toddler who was extremely loud. Again I protested and said no I will not sit there I turned to my husband said we should just leave. He was not happy with me at all but sat us in the booth. If you've never been there this dining room is ridiculously small and narrow and only has a few places to sit. It's very very old and that décor is tacky. The owner walked part way through the restaurant and told the waitress that he doesn't want us sitting there because hes got a party of 6 coming. We actually heard him say that twice. We sure didn't feel very welcome. We ordered a gyros and a salad each. The waitress was GREAT! So the owner returns to the kitchen and we can hear him yelling and hollering in a very angry tone speaking in his own tongue. Our food came out and the tatziki sauce that I had their 8 months ago was thick and zesty and really flavorful. Today it was just like water and flavorless, and the sandwiches were awful. This is now 6 hours later and we're both at home with very bad belly aches and diarrhea. I had picked some awful looking lettuce out of my wrap as I was eating , and should have stopped eating. We had an early appointment in Evergreen this morning, and didn't get breakfast - so we were exceptionally hungry. Now we're paying for it. I'll never eat here again and will be calling the health department...
Read moreUnfortunately, I have driven past this place for years. When I think of how much silky smooth, perfectly seasoned, oiled and garnished Hummus I have missed it makes me sad. This review could focus on the Hummus and get 5 stars! Our waiter, Michael, was happy to describe the "from scratch" care and pride that goes into every batch from the "Mom and Pop" kitchen. They start from sesame seeds here, making a tahini so light and fluffy that when mixed with garbanzo beans and olive oil, the resulting dish is quiet perfection, just like the unassuming atmosphere of the cafe itself. No television, low music coming from the kitchen, clean tables, booths and the happy conversations of satisfied customers enjoying a first class meal together. It was our first visit so we did keep the order simple. Aside from the Hummus, we sampled the Falafel and ordered Gyro Pita's. Wow! The Falafel arrives piping hot and fresh from the obvious perfect temperature and clean oil of the fryer. These golden brown cakes of goodness look incredible and taste even better. Light and fluffy again. It is as if the Chef has found a way to infuse a mediterranean breeze into his food. This is not the chalky, thick lump of vegetarian alternative that is served under the falafel name at so many other places. Tzatziki’s Falafel is worth a stop on its own. We finished with the safe play, Gyros Pita. The gyro meat was sliced fresh from a rotisserie and piled high, finished with lettuce, tzatziki sauce, tomato, onion and care on a fresh pita. A great sandwich leaving me in anticipation of my next visit when I intend to bring friends and fill a table with the best Mediterranean food in town. Thank you Tzatziki's for filling a void in our...
