My first time ever in this establishment was last week on a Friday night for my sisters birthday. It was a group of us(about 10) and it was all of our first times here. When we pulled up in parking lot it was empty. Went thru security and into the club it was 11pm and we were the first to arrive. We looking around confused because we like “where is everyone”. Staff around looking crazy nobody acknowledges us and security was deep in there. We had gotten a couch section for free that literally only sat 3 people on it so we took up two couches(I was still standing). I asked the bartender about the hookah and margarita tower we paid for thru the local promoter and she states we gotta wait for someone from his team(the promoter) to come. So we vibing to the music and a few of us got drinks from the bar while we waited.
What irritated my sister was when the girl who was working with the promoter finally gets there, asked my sister to get up from the couch and basically relocate us to the other couch towards the front of the building. We already been waiting, it’s NOT BUSY, why make a big deal about us sitting on a couch. We were just trying to understand why but it was her approach and how she was doing us. It was a lil scene but not much. The owner, who I thought was security, came over and let us know the new changes with the seating arrangements. I appreciate him for apologizing and acknowledging our frustration so to accommodate us, he put us in a section for the night. When we normally go out we always get a section but we didn’t this night because it was our first time and we wanted to feel it out.
We in the section the owner states this particular waitress will be taking care of y’all for the night(didn’t get her name). While waiting on our hookah and margarita tower a few of us went to the bar for drinks. The bartender Rebecca was pretty. I ordered two drinks gave her 20$ and no change. So I was confused no receipt no change I guess my two drinks was 20$. I would’ve like to see the price for those drinks. By then it was 11:30p and the crowd started to pick up a lil bit and the bottle girls came with the sign saying happy birthday the margarita tower and the hookah.
By 12am the club was clubbing! The waitress was being attentive taking our shot orders and food orders. We received all that before it got busy busy. But once it got busy busy we never saw the waitress again. You see her lighting up bottles around the room but never checked back on us. As a former waitress and hostess, check backs are crucial! I just felt like(this my opinion) that because we already got the section for free and she was forced to wait on us because the owner said so, so she did her job(in her eyes). I told the owner if she takes care of us I got her on her tip. N because I know we didn’t pay for the section I was still gonna look out for her. If she would’ve checked back one time she would’ve got it but didn’t. We left the establishment before 2am that night.
Overall experience was ok. Shoutout to the local promoter because he did his job by promoting that’s what he does. His post was what got us there in the first place. Shoutout the owner for stepping up and acknowledging the problem and solving it. The waitress did ok it was the not checking back when it got busy even to see if the birthday girl was good and that’s ultimately why she didn’t get her tip. Oh and it was a fight in the corner with a waitress and another girl lol just terrible.
Will I come again on a Friday night I don’t know maybe. Hopefully if and when I do, service...
Read moreLet me 1st say that today was my second experience with this restaurant, both times during lunch. Both times we placed multiple orders were placed via phone for pickup. Arriving to a new restaurant that's empty can be a bit frightening. Much to my surprise the taste of all of the food was good. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Kudos to the cook. The downfall on the first trip was that 1 order was the comfort wings lunch which was to include 3 whole wings fries and cornbread. I received 6 wing pieces and fries NO CORNBREAD!! Sucks for a 1st experience but we didn't hold it against the restaurant and decided to try again today. Needless to say that was a HUGE mistake. Second time in the restaurant and not 1 other patron, makes you seriously question a business that has 0 traffic at lunchtime. My girlfriend questioned the cashier as this time they had requested a credit card when the order was placed which she declined to provide bc the 3 orders were being paid for separately. My girlfriend paid for her 2 orders and when it came to my order it was about $6 more than it should have been. When I inquired, the cashier flipped the screen around and I saw that price did NOT match was was confirmed when the order was placed. I advised Mr. Cashier and he casually strolled to the kitchen to have them review. 10 minutes later we were still waiting at the counter as the ONLY patrons and the other orders were getting cold, I asked the other employee who standing at the counter if she could check bc we were on our lunch break. Her response was " its under his number and so there's nothing I can do. He should be back". A few more minutes go by and nothing. I said to my girlfriend that I would just leave the chicken bc I didn't want to wait any longer. I advised that lady that they could just keep it when Mr. Cashier strolls from the back advising me that someone would come out to fix the order momentarily. At that point my entire lunch break had been spent waiting for someone to correct their mistake at my my expense. Nooo sir, yall can keep the 4 chicken wings and no sides for $15 and change. I am hungry but not desperate. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A CLEAR INDICATION OF BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. And let me just say, I work at a nearby business that employees close to 1,000 people. We order out for lunch daily. We order catering from local businesses for meetings and events. Word of mouth travels fast and maybe that's why we have not seen any other patrons. Such a sad day when you try to support local, and especially to support ablack business in this economy where soo many restaurants and businesses are closing...
Read moreI was very disappointed after asking family to meet me here tonight. This was their first time visiting the restaurant. I was telling them how great the restaurant was and the food was amazing being that I’ve been here 4 previous times. However this was the worst experience I have ever had visiting any restaurant !!!! The service was horrible. The restaurant wasn’t clean and table all over the restaurant not busted. It took 45 minutes to get 3 glasses of water even than she only brought 2 forgetting about 3rd. The Waitress began to wait on another table that came in after us while we’re sitting there waiting for her to come back to take our order. My niece had ordered a drink and the waitress explain 45 minutes later that she’s not the bartender so she just have to wait until it’s mixed. My niece went up to the bartender and asked about her drink. The bartender acted as if she didn’t know anything and stated she would make her drink right now . My niece also asked for the manager. The bartender stated there was no manager. The bartender stated that she doesn’t know when the manager is going to come in. However my niece never got the drink because the bartender went out talking to somebody on the floor. I wanted to blame the staff (which most definitely was horrible )however I blame management because if you don’t hold a standard for your restaurant/ business how could I ever expect the staff to hold a standard for your restaurant. As I stated I have been here 4 times and only once have I seen one waitress two times everybody else is always new. That speaks volumes too when you can’t keep consistent staff. Black entrepreneurs always complain about why we don’t visit black businesses and / or support them. Treat your business as a business and not a hustle then you will provide better service and have better standards as it represents you Southern Comfort. You should follow your mission statement that’s online as you speak of your business because it’s surely not the same once you come the actual establishment. Is this really the cultural experience of soul food you speak of in your mission statement? I also invited some friends for lunch on Wednesday that have never been to your restaurant, however I will be calling them and canceling your restaurant and go somewhere else. You have to do better than this. If you don’t care about your restaurant why should anyone else case in point. Try reading some of the other reviews...
