Honestly, I am pretty lenient about things that can go wrong when I'm at a restaurant. I've been to El Azteca twice since moving to the area and neither time was a good experience. The first time we went, my husband and I ordered 2 items priced at $9.99, one water, and a soft drink. We wonder how we ended up getting charged $32.00 not including tip?? We didn't realize until later that this had happened. Well, like I said, I'm lenient. I figured it must have been my mistake and the items had a different listed price than I remembered. So we went back (this is when I looked at it again in the menu and confirmed that we were overcharged). This time, the chicken seemed undercooked and it all had a strange coloration to it. I didn't eat much of it at all and mostly just ate chips. We were there a couple hours before closing but they were already cleaning up like they were trying to close around us. It felt like they were specifically trying to rush us out as they chose to clean the same tables directly across from our booth several times. They did not refill our drinks or ask how anything was. When we got home (upcoming TMI:) I had VERY bad stomach cramps and ended up glued to the toilet for the rest of the night, and the following morning. We're looking into other options for Mexican food in the area. I'm leaving this review because I don't want anyone to get sick or have money taken from them for no reason.
TL;DR - they overcharged us, bad service, fun-filled night of diarrhea and...
Read moreThis evening is by far the WORST experience we have had here. The food is very good and the daytime staff are very nice. In the 2 years we have been eating here we have NEVER had an issue. Tonight 6-6-21 was horrid. We ordered 3 beef tacos Texas fajitas and Beef flautas and cheese sauce. The server forgot our cheese sauce then finally brought it about 10 minutes later. My husbands dish was perfect and hot. The 3 beef tacos the meat was still refrigerator cold. When they brought out the flautas. They gave me chicken. After 5 minutes of trying to wave someone down I told a young woman it was wrong. When our actual server returned to the table NOT ONE TIME DID HE APOLOGIZE. He kept making excuses. And also proceeded to tell me they were out of rice..( you want french fries ) ?? are you kidding me !! He was rude beyond measure and still we never received any apology.. and this was after he walked away from our table went to the back in the kitchen and was gone again for approximately 7 minutes. We normally go in there in theearly afternoon. We actually do love their food. But we will NEVER go back after tonight. I tried to leave a message on their FB page but they have turned off posting...
Read moreIf I could give this place a zero star rating I would. My boyfriend and I went in expecting authentic Mexican and were sorely disappointed. Our first thought when seeing the meat options was "Where is the lengua, or the carnitas?" I settled on a beef enchilada, beef tamale, and rice and beans. The enchilada was made with ground beef, not seasoned shredded beef as in a true Mexican restaurant, and halfway through the tamale (which tasted like the ones you purchase premade in the deli section of a supermarket by the way) they used chicken. The rice and beans were okay, nothing really extraordinary about them. Pretty standard. My boyfriend got a beef taco, beef tostada, and a beef tamale. The taco came out in a hard shell. A hard shell!!! And the tostada did as well, and it was drowning in soupy guacamole and refried beans. For the table they bring complimentary chips with salsa and a ranch dip. Yes, it is your basic buttermilk ranch with seasonings like cilantro, chipotle, and lime. The chips and salsa were passable. The horchata was the only thing I would say was actually good. Even sitting here writing this review I feel my stomach...
