I went to this spot a couple years ago when it wuz called something else and ordered sashimi. The fish pieces were big but so cold they were borderline frozen. Didn't complain paid my bill and left but I told myself I wouldn't eat here again. So I noticed recently the "name" of the restaurant had changed. I wanted sushi real bad tonight and this spot was one of the only sushi places open this late. I went inside and I noticed the same lady working inside that worked here when I came a couple years ago(pretty sure she the manager)so now I'm already thinking damn..this the same place all they did was change the name 😒 .. Anyway I order the sashimi platter AGAIN.. and the same damn thing happened again... Fish literally is JUST UNDER frozen. To cold to enjoy. I didn't want my meal for free but I had to tell "the lady" about my experience every time I've came to this place. All she had to say wuz basically when the company brings it they put it in the fridge 🤦🏾♂️.. I told her I eat sushi all the time ..I order sashimi ALL THE TIME and this is the only place I ever come to where the fish is so cold it literally almost feel like I'm biting frozen fish.. I told her the salmon and tuna was fine but the yellowtail and the white fish is frozen.. After her continuing to repeat that it's just cold because it's refrigerated she says ok I'll get u three more pieces of salmon (I had already lost my appetite) she brings three pieces of salmon back I immediately asked her for the check.. Paid my bill...Left the "frozen" pieces of fish and the salmon that she jus brought me on the table and walked out...I'm not even telling people not to eat here.. but if u are a fan of SASHIMI I wouldn't order it from here.. Try "Sushi Yoma" in Newport... The fish is FRESHER.. the pieces are BIGGER...oh and they sashimi don't come to your table FROZEN 🤷🏾♂️.. Never coming back to this place again..IDC if they change the name to "Jesus made this sushi" ...NEVER COMING BACK... Lesson...
Read moreI will start off by saying the plating is absolutely beautiful for sushi & the atmosphere is also beautiful. Apart from that i will not be coming back due to how awful service was and how cheap sushi is made. We got the yum yum roll which was $20 it is suppose to consist of king crab, lobster salad, avocado, cucumber & mango. Very disappointed when the roll came out with imitation crab! On top of that the whole time we were there our waters were not refilled we were just sitting there with empty glasses. I watched our server walk around to a table in the front of our row then proceed to skip us & go to a table on the other side of the restaurant. My husband even had to get up to ask somebody for our spicy mayo (be aware they give you a little square plate with the thinest layer of spicy mayo & then charge you $2 for it). We also had to wait 10-15 minutes just to receive a high chair for our 1 year old i had to ask for that too for some reason it wasn’t offered when being seated and when our drink order was being taken she also just walked away after getting me & my husband’s drink order when she came back and i asked for a water for our son she gave me a very questionable look. The worst part about this whole experience is when we paid the server who wasn’t even our server that took our order and gave us our drinks told me it is a service fee to tip 20%. ! I couldn’t believe she said it. she was very rude the whole time and not at all accommodating to our table Which is why she didn’t get a 20% tip to begin with to even ask for it after paying is beyond me. I don’t recommend this place for a good...
Read moreMy wife and I have been here numerous times now and I felt obligated to write this review after our dinner tonight. If you are craving fresh rolled, delicious sushi come here and no where else! This mom and pop shop is owned by a husband and wife who have over 20 years experience making their delicious japanese cuisine. The atmosphere is fantastic and is universally classy; fitting for a fun date night out, a casual dinner, or a great first date impression.
While the food is always incredible, the ambience makes you feel at home and the chef's food presentation screams fine dining culinary experience. This place is truly a cut above most other sushi places around Hampton roads.
Do yourself a favor and come here next time you are craving sushi. The food is well priced, rolls are insanely good tasting, very well sized, fresh, and the restaraunt and staff are welcoming and are a guaranteed great experience.
