01/24/2024 New review ..service was great even had a great conversation with the general manager Christina Castillo on figuring out the Denny's app and the rewards / challenges which is apparently still a work in progress after she left and retired home for the night we decided to order a food unfortunately this I can't say the food was as great as the service I ordered the country fried steak dinner my wife ordered the double cheeseburger dinner the country fried steak dinner was great and was exceptional but the double cheeseburger was served like it came out of a grease fryer I will post pictures the bun was soggy with grease and the whole Burger was uneditable because that she even tried to use a knife and cut but at that point she had already lost appetite this is very unfortunate because we do visit Denny's locked and very rare do we have this happen to us the server explained to us as how the burgers always come out after serving in the military for 15 years and cooking for over 30 years of my life the one thing you always do in any restaurant when you're serving meats or Burger is to drain the grease before placing it on a bun or a plate .. so in this visit I have to give Denny's a 3-star rating which is very disappointing because I was hoping to keep it at a 5 star rating vision reflect in no way at all on the server because she did a fabulous job very respectful very nice and try to solve the problem the best that she could buy taking the Burger off of Meal ticket but the wife still left being hungry which is not good for me.. please Denny's let's get this right I'll chalk this one up to a...
Read moreThis review isn't about the food since we didn't stay long enough to have any; it's about how the facility treats customers accompanied by service animals. For better service, attitude and prices, choose the Bethlehem Diner next door instead.
We had a day full of medical appointments in the Allentown area. Two of those appts straddled the lunch hour. This Denny's is physically between the locations of two those appts. When we entered, the hostess asked if our dog was a service animal, and seated us in accordance with ADA requirements. The waitress took our order. We'd forgotten the dog's bowl, so I requested a carryout box in which I could put food for the dog on the floor. The waitress went to the kitchen and returned to tell us we were not allowed to feed the dog in the restaurant.
The policy is legal under the ADA -- legal but pointless, stupid and discriminatory. The policy is not enforced by Denny's corporate, as we've often run into the need to feed the dog when we fed ourselves, and on several occasions, chose Denny's. Never again. I do not want to enrich any entity that makes others' lives unnecessarily difficult or unpleasant.
I understand that a service animal may not eat from the table and health codes probably prohibit dogs from eating from plates used to serve human clients no matter where the animal eats. Our dog would have unobtrusively eaten food ordered for her, out of the carryout box, on the floor, under the table.
We immediately left and walked a few hundred yards across the parking lot to the neighboring Bethlehem Diner where the staff was friendlier and quicker to seat us and take our order. Salient to this review, the server brought the carryout box we requested with the order, and the dog ate her lunch from it, on the floor, under the table. BONUS: the prices were about 20% lower too.
Have a service animal on Catesaqua Road in Allentown? Choose the Bethlehem Diner, not Dennys.
Bethlehem Diner offers quick, friendly, respectful service, better prices, and nice diner food. Don't have a service animal? My advice remains the same; you'll like the Bethlehem...
Read moreLast night our large family (4 adults , 7 children ages 2-14) decided to take the dads out to dinner when we arrived the manager informed us that we.woild have to bear with them because it was just him and 1 server. We let him know we understood and did not mind waiting. We arrived just before 6pm. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The manager took our drink orders. When the waitress Stacey came to take our food order she was a little odd and we could tell.something was wrong with her. She took.our.large order and said.she.would.be back. She only took 10 out of the 11 orders that we needed. After 30 minutes of asking her to please add another order because she didn't take someone's order she repeatedly said she would be over in 1 minute. Finally the manager came over and we were about to add the final order. Stacy was nowhere to be found. After about an hour of us being there Stacu reappeared , clearly very intoxicated. She proceeded to talk about nonsense to the 6 children aged 7-14 seated at one of our tables. After we asked for drink refills she repeatedly asked the kids who wanted to help her get the drink refills. The oldest kids out of the table told the younger ones to stay with them because the waitress was not ok. When a child can tell that the waitress is now high on drugs. That is absolutely NOT acceptable. After 90 minutes of being there and tempers rising with the adults we complained about Stacy to the manager. He apologized to us. He then brought out of.order which every order was wrong. Again the manager repeatedly apologized. Nobody was satisfied with the service or food and especially Stacy. When the manager found her she was sitting at one of the tables having a very long conversation with another table. He came to.our table apologized and did.not.charge us for our large order. The manager then was forced to send Stacy home and close the dining room and accept only take out orders. The manager was great and tried to do.as much as he could. Stacy was horrendous and should NOT be employee there. She makes that location...
