Being a lenten Friday we were looking for seafood. Red Lobster was out of the question as they have gone downhill. Hook And Reel had a two hour wait…no thanks. I googled seafood and this place was on the list. I decided, “hey let’s try the restaurant we always pass on our way to HEB”. So we arrive about 7:30pm. There is a bit of a wait. Andy takes my name and number and tells me he will call when a table is ready. He originally said 25 minutes but it was less than that he called saying our table was ready. Looked like a quaint but lively place. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Even though it was very busy they were doing well accommodating everyone! We are greeted, seated and our orders are taken. I order a shrimp basket and hubby ordered the fish and shrimp basket. My husband asked me about an appetizer but I declined. I originally thought to order extra shrimp or a salad. Well our baskets came out and I am SOOOOO thankful I didn’t order anything extra. This basket was packed full of goodness! It was a big portion. It was an eight piece fried shrimp meal. I can plow through shrimp and figured eight pieces were not going to fill me up. I was dead wrong. These shrimp were huge and meaty!! They tasted clean, not fishy and the breading was just right. Some places you get mostly breading and the shrimp is bare to none. This place is NOT the case. These were like little filets of deliciousness! I had some Jambalaya rice with the accompanying hushpuppies and garlic bread. Perfection! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his catfish as well. It was meaty (no bones) and not greasy at all. This is a new “goto” place for us. All this time we drove past this place! Now I know what I was missing! So happy we gave it a chance. It was money well spent! Good to leave a place feeling satisfied and happy. So hear is to great food and service! Thank you also to the manager, Andy. He was hustling and bustling taking care of customers, tables and checking on the servers and kitchen area. Our server was great as well! We were checked on several times to make sure everything was ok with our food. Great time! Definitely not a secret with how busy it was. Thanks for making our Friday night!!! If you haven’t been before I can definitely...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the food is really good. So, I visit this establishment at least 3 to 4 times a week and I spend any where from $43 to $109 each and every visit. Well, yesterday I had my son stop and pick me up 4 pounds of crawfish, he only received 2 pounds. I live in between Nolanville and Belton. I did not return the crawfish yesterday because I knew I would be visiting the establishment again and I did not want them to think that I had taken some out of the bag. So, today I decided to get some more crawfish and I still had the receipt from the previous day—I proceeded to tell the young lady I wanted to speak to a manger to explain what had happened the day before. She told me she was the manager—I showed her the receipt and explained to her what had happened, plus I showed her my virtual wallet to show previous purchases—that I am a frequent customer. She said she would have to call her mom manager. She called her manager and explained what had happened. When they brought my order out for today—I asked did they add the two pounds from the prior day—she said her manger told her that they could not do it because I should have came back the same day—like I explained to her my son had picked them up. Well, after all of that—they have just lost a valuable customer who was dropping about $300 a week at their establishment—all Over the principal of $26. I could see if I was in there asking for free crawfish, I was buying another order at $43 and I was just asking for the ones I did not receive the previous day. I guess. I will be looking for another crawfish spot that will appreciate...
Read moreWent twice. The first time I left before the food even arrived because I went to go wash my hands and when I came back there was a family of four sitting at my table. This was due to their "sit wherever you want" policy, plus the fact that after waiting for about 10 minutes they never brought the glass of water I ordered so my tablet looked totally vacant.
Second visit. Wasn't greeted when I walked in. Took a few minutes before someone decided to look up and speak to me. I ordered the combo basket (catfish, shrimp, fries, and pups). Decided to wait outside because it was very crowded inside. When my order was ready no one checked the outdoor waiting area to let me know that my food was ready. I walked inside after about 15 minutes and immediately noticed a to-go order sitting on the corner of the counter. After about 2-3 minutes one of the five (yes, FIVE) employees at the front counter noticed me and told me that my food was ready and handed me the bag that had been sitting there for a while.
The food sucks. I understand that I'm talking about someone's hard work, their pride and joy, but this isn't food I would be proud to serve anyone. The fries were bland and incredibly soggy, as was the catfish and pups. Someone said the shrimp seemed as if it was from the frozen section of a supermarket - nailed it. The garlic bread may have been the most offensive thing, it was soggy, yet hard, and chewy all at the same time.
In conclusion, the service and food were equally bad. This obviously doesn't represent everyone's experience and although I'm no Gordon Ramsay, I will be avoiding this...
