My wife and I went to the Harker Heights Roni's location for our first visit on 27 June 2024 after hearing of the location on KTEM 1400 AM radio. The service was excellent, and we liked the option of ordering in-person, even though multiple kiosks exist.
After using the kiosk, I'm making the following suggestions: 1) have a kiosk option to place "drizzles" like Ranch dressing and BBQ sauce "on the side", and 2) have a kiosk option to "plus up" the number of toppings just as is done for the protein options. For example, if I want extra bread crumbs, have a "+2" or "+3" option to communicate that I'd like more of that than is standard.
Overall, we were very happy with the staff's willingness to explain everything, including helping us overcome some current glitches with the Roni's app. We were also very pleased with the look, taste, and temperature of the food.
Concerning price, I do believe that either the prices will need to come down, or the quantities will have to come up for this venue to be competitive in this market. Roughly $14 for a tin of pasta is a lot of money. $3.50 for a fountain drink is really pushing the limits. When you compare what $17.50 can buy for one person at other walk-up-to-the-counter restaurants (i.e. Schlotzsky's, Panda, Freebirds) the value just is not there at the current pricing.
As it is, we would only return with a "deal" or "special" going on, or with coupons in hand.
UPDATE: As of June 29, 2024, the price of the fountain drink decreased about a dollar to around $2.50. I appreciate that someone...
Read moreThis was a first time visit. We felt the food was ok, but high priced for the "fast food" quality. My pasta bowl was barely warm all the way through, but the child size mac n cheese was so hot we had to toss in a piece of ice before giving to our toddler. Sandwich was good, but soggy so it fell apart and it was served directly on the tray paper, no plate. I guess if two or more people get a sandwich you'll have to dine very close to each other. The food is very pre-made and reminds me of pasta dishes from a pizza place. Like it's not their main thing, just something they added to the menu because they already had the ingredients sitting there.
Our biggest complaint was the need for cleaning. The tables, floor, chairs, high chairs, bathroom etc. etc. were all in need of a good wash down. There were little bits of food stuck to every surface in every direction I looked. We had to clean the high chair with baby wipes before we felt safe using it(all three were equally dirty). It looked as though someone had wiped the entire restaurant down with the same dirty rag, so they were leaving smears behind the further they went.
Some of the chairs are too tall for the tables so you can't sit comfortably with your legs under the table. I could go on, but I think I've made my point. Overall not a good experience and would...
