Akamai Coffee in Wailea is, without a doubt, my favorite coffee shop! Every time I visit, I’m greeted with genuine aloha from the baristas. They’re warm, kind, and always make you feel like a valued part of their day. It’s the kind of place where the energy is just as uplifting as the coffee.

Speaking of the coffee, the quality is truly unmatched. My go-to is the warm honey latte, and it’s absolute perfection. The rich espresso is balanced beautifully by just the right touch of sweetness from the honey. You can genuinely taste the care that goes into every cup, and it’s always consistently crafted, which I really appreciate.

Their breakfast menu is equally delicious, and my favorite item is the egg toast. It’s simple, fresh, and satisfying—perfect to start your morning or enjoy after a beach walk.

The shop itself has a charming, laid-back vibe, with clean design and a welcoming atmosphere. The covered outdoor seating makes it an ideal spot to relax, sip your coffee, and soak in the Wailea surroundings.

If you're visiting Maui or lucky enough to live nearby, Akamai Coffee is a must-stop. The drinks are made with love, the food is fantastic, and the people truly embody the spirit of aloha. It’s everything a great local coffee shop should...

The barista was rude. She made the wrong coffee and then turned it on me as if it was my fault when she made a latte instead of a cappuccino. I didn't want to take someone else's coffee so I asked her politley and she rudely asked for the ticket number. It was for my ticket but looked clearly like lattes so I asked her again and she got very angry at me and yelled for the ticket number again. At that point I said we asked for cappuccino instead and so she caught she made a mistake and didn't even offer to remake it. I was so perturbed by her attitude when she was at fault it ruined everything. It's thr only reason I give a one star....it ruined everything else because all I could do was sit their angrily and wondering if I should call her manager. Just an entitled nasty girl. I didn't even care if it was a latte or cappuccino in the freggin end I just did not want to take someone else's coffee and her having to remake for that person. I was actually looking out for her and then to get in trouble for doing that with her. I am the customer....dont...

This is one of the better coffee places in Wailea. It is a specialty coffee place that serves their own roasted beans that are generally 100% Maui grown. The problem is that there are inconsistencies cup to cup and barista to barista. Their espresso puck prep leaves much to be desired as they dose into their portafilter and then don’t level the grounds before they tamp so there are different densities of coffee in the puck which leads to channeling and uneven extraction. To make matters worse, the tamp wasn’t even level which means on side the puck extracted more than the other. Because I was drinking espresso with just milk, you could taste the unevenness of the coffee. If you get a lavender latter or one of their other flavored lattes, you won’t be able to tell. Overall I don’t think you can find a better spot to get coffee, but some additional training will...

Good looking setting up on a second floor, with views of the shopping courtyard but also Molokai and Kaho'olawe and of course the ocean. Normally a quiet breakfast spot with choices of sweet (get the delicious Belgian waffle with berry compote) and savory (Breakfast Burrito) menu options. The burrito wasn't my favorite - next time I'd go with a regular sandwich instead. It felt a bit dry and there wasn't enough flavor in it without the salsa, which they only provide a small cup of on the side. But the waffles were spectacular - fluffy and just enough sweet, with the delicious, juicy and satisfying berry compote straight out of (a jar) heaven 😇 This particular morning, the landscaping maintenance crew and some construction next door completely ruined the quiet morning, but hey, people have to work and we want Wailea to continue to look beautiful, right!?
