Really great food as always, but waitress ruined experience. I didn't get her name but she's a middle aged woman with dark hair. Interaction started with her not introducing herself or asking for drinks before just asking what we wanted to order, said I wasn't ready quite yet and didn't come back for fifteen more minutes. Got our order in and brought out at a reasonable time but didn't bring out my full meal (missing french toast), and didn't stop by once to ask how things were or if we needed anything. Didn't refill water or coffee once either. After flagging her down I mentioned placing a Togo order, and she said she could be back in just a second to take it. Didn't come back for ten more minutes. I mentioned the missing part of my meal with the Togo, and she just agreed that I did order it and said she would get it right out along with an extra plate I asked for. Ten more minutes pass and she finally stops again. Didn't bring missing french toast, plate or Togo order but did drop the check. After another handful of minutes my mom leaves to go outside and I sat and waited for the Togo order and to pay. Still no french toast or to go, but she did grab the check. Was there waiting for 25 minutes after we paid for the to go order, just to go up to the front and find it sitting in the window. After asking her to grab it for me she does not say a word, hands it to me and of course it was cold. I understand that at this time of year things can get busy, and people in the restaurant industry can become overwhelmed, everywhere is dealing with staffing issues right now. As someone who is very recently worked as a server for many years though, I am always the first person to give the benefit of the doubt, and this is my first time stiffing a waitress in my entire life. I will be going back just because this is my first bad experience here, and I love the food so much. With luck on my side though, I will never be sat in her section again. I also never got my...
Read moreI loved this place when it was on Sherman, this is the 1st time I've been here in 10 years or more. And it's just as good as I remember. Google maps will lie about how to get in here. From Hayden avenue, turn at the Maverick, on N. Kirkpatrick street, you'll see the sign for Rustlers on the 1st driveway on the right. It's behind the Maverick. I was greeted by Woody, who confirmed I was seating just 1 person, then bragged about his Algebra skills. Lol He's always been a funny guy, he's the original owner. I was seated in back where I could read in semi quiet. The server was friendly and prompt, I had a Waffle smothered in butter and syrup, with 2 eggs over easy (perfectly done, btw) with 2 bacon, a small glass of OJ, and a glass of chocolate milk. All of which arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. I slow munched my meal and read, with the server popping by every 15 minutes or so. They were friendly, fast, the food was delicous and just how I remembered it, and all of that food costed me $14.89. I was there about an hour, reading, enjoying the classic rock and oldies playing over head. And if you favor old western type decor with various oddities, you will love Rustlers Roost. And They have homemade teas and soaps for sale up front, with other little original items. I didn't really look too closely, Idk what the prices were, but hopefully my pictures tell the story for me. I came for the nostalgia, and good food, and I wasn't disappointed, nd had a few laughs while I was there. That's why I give it 5 stars. Because there isn't 6...
Read moreWhere the locals go for breakfast. 🍳
Favorite breakfast spot for almost 40 years. I’ve been going here since I was a little girl, at the original location, it’s even where my grandpa taught me how to order eggs (over-medium). I’ve moved away from the area, but make sure to always stop in when back visiting family. My parents still go probably once a week at least. And my husband is now a convert too.
It’s a solid, no-fancy-fusion, just good ol’ breakfast classics restaurant with an atmosphere you can only get in North Idaho. Tons of breakfast meat options, want a delicious smoked sausage with your eggs….no problem.
Must try at least once, the cinnamon roll. As big as your head and an absolute treat.
My favorite: the lightweight with home fries and biscuit and gravy. Their omelettes are also solid. They’ll also switch your sides out for cottage cheese and tomato for the low-to-no-carb days.
Everyone is very nice, servers are friendly and efficient. Woody, one of the owners, is always very friendly and welcoming and somehow still looks like I remember him from when I was a kid. I’m not saying there’s an anti-aging ingredient in the gravy, but that would explain it. 🤣 Also, my husband is a black Middle Eastern man and I’m a plus size woman and we’ve both always felt very comfortable and welcomed here.
I hope you get a chance to experience this place at least once, and love it as much as me...
