Look…it’s a chain, but it’s one of the best pizza restaurants in Houston. I haven't tried literally all of the pizza in Houston, but I've tried a lot: Talespin, Via 313, Gold Tooth Tony's, Coltivare, Star Pizza, Bollo, Pepperoni's, Fat Boy, and probably a few others I forgot about. And I love them all. And Crust is just as good as any of them. Yet there's something really special about Crust for me. I feel like their offering is totally unique in Houston, yet they don't seem to get as much press as some of their competitors in Houston (not that they need it, from what I can tell).
What Crust specializes in is something I was never fond of before: the odious style of pizza we call "the thin crust pizza," cut into squares. This is apparently what real Chicagoans call pizza, not deep dish pizza (I wouldn't know; I've never been). Since Crust landed in Houston (originating in the Woodlands, apparently), I found myself understanding for the first time in my life how good thin crust pizza can really be. Crust is one of my favorite pizza restaurants in Houston now.
I'm not going to beleaguer you with too much information. The toppings are all good quality, a little bit above average, but that's not what you'll remember Crust for. You'll remember the place for, yes, you guessed it...the crust. I have no clue what these people are doing with the dough, but that is what they've staked their name on and it makes perfect sense once you bite in for the first time. It's just the best. Pizza crust is usually an afterthought, something that is just kind of meant as the vehicle for everything else on the pizza, but every single bite is incredible at Crust. It's been that way since I first tried Crust at their Heights location and they've carried the same quality to this location in Spring Branch. And their consistency is incredible! Every pizza I've ever had at Crust always comes out well, and this is over the course of, I don't know, 3 years or more? Since whenever that Heights location opened.
Service is great too! The owners themselves, Darryl, and Aolani are there to be sure everything gets done right. Big thanks to all of them! Location is clean and cozy too; it's right across from Memorial High school. Enough said, right? So if you're looking to share some incredible pizza with your family (or just eat the whole thing by yourself like I do), I couldn't recommend...
Read moreLet me just start by saying trust the crust... I did not expect to be this impressed. But I felt the vibes as soon as I pulled up!
I stopped by the new Crust Pizza location in Hedwig Village kind of on a whim fresh off work and from the moment I walked in, the energy felt right. The space is clean, fresh, and has that "new spot that already feels like home" kind of vibe.
Now let's talk about the real reason I'm writing this... the people! Giovanni, the team lead, greeted me like I'd been coming there for years. Cool, down-to-earth, and genuinely passionate about the food. I didn't look at the menu prior to sliding through, and he suggested the Buffalo Chicken Pizza on a Cauliflower crust. I was like, "Eh, I don't know about all that," but he convinced me to give it a try.
Man... I'm so glad I listened. That pizza was different in a good way for real for real. Like, legitimately one of the best pizzas I've eaten in a while. The cauliflower crust was perfectly crispy, the buffalo chicken was flavorful, and the flavors were balanced in a way I didn't expect. It felt indulgent without the guilt. In addition to the complimentary pizza I also ordered the Pepperoni supreme pizza with stuff crust which was absolutely smackin!
Then Darryl, the General Manager, and Zi, the franchise owner, both came over just to check in and chat. Respect to them, they weren't just managing from a distance; they were present, intentional, and clearly care about creating a great experience. You don't see that kind of leadership everywhere, and it showed in the whole vibe of the team.
Zi let me know that all the dough and sauces are made in house, which explains why everything tasted so fresh. I tried the creamy buffalo, blue cheese, and ranch on the side. Every one of them hit. No weak links.
With this being my first time to Crust ever I will say it left a lasting impression! Great food, outstanding service, and a team that appears to enjoy what they're doing. I'll definitely be back & probably sooner than I should be.

Read moreI ordered a corporate lunch through crust pizza for about 25 employees and it was a huge success. The general manager, Darryl, was very attentive to our requests and we were able to get each individual a personalized 10” pizza, along with their famous garlic, knots, and chicken, wings and drinks and desserts, all within a reasonable budget. The process was effortless as I was able to collect each employees request of pizza and many were able to build their own pizza with up to 10 ingredients. I just had to email the types of pizzas from each individual to Darryl and he took care of the rest. The delivery was on time and worked out awesome because each pizza box was labelled with the individual’s name and the type of pizza they ordered for ease of reference. Needless to say it was a huge success and everyone loved their personalized. A big thank you to Darryl for facilitating this amazing corporate lunch. I recommend Crust pizza as a great alternative to the boring pizza lunch that companies usually do with a few big pepperoni or...
