Seriously, don’t waste your time. Waited 45 minutes for a table for three. Was seated on a freezing porch. We all ordered eggs for breakfast, which obviously don’t take long to cook. We were told it could take 30 minutes to get food. We had already paid $10 for parking, so we agreed to this. But it was a brutal wait. The porch was lined with plastic and the wind kept blowing through.
The $6 hot chocolate is just Nesquick. The $4 coffee is either made with the Kurig, or instant Foldgers (I know this because the server mentioned it to the table behind us). This was all we ordered and all we were served, which is explains why they weren’t upset when we asked to leave before the food arrived.
Over the course of the hour and 15 minute wait, two servers accidentally brought our table the fried cheese appetizer, and when we said we were waiting on breakfast, they took it back.
Several tables around us were larger parties, seated after us, and had received their food. When I asked our server if our ticket had been lost, she said no, that she had put the order in after theirs. But we were still waiting on the kitchen to finish several big orders … to make eggs 🤷🏻♀️
As a restaurant manager, I do my very best to be kind to all restaurant staff regardless of the situation, but this was ridiculous. No accountability, and we wasted 2 hours looking for a decent restaurant in Helen, Ga.
My advice is, find some place else out of town - you will have better food, better service, and you won’t have to deal with fake German food in a fake German town with bad customer service in dingy moldy...
Read moreWe live about an hour away and decided to come up on Sunday to celebrate my 41st birthday. Been eyeballing this place a bit but they’re always so busy but lucky for us, it’s the slow season. We were seated right away by very friendly staff. I’m a cheese lover so obviously got the cheese breakfast of cheddar with over easy eggs and everything was wonderful! From the coffee, what we my boyfriend got, the eggs, that fried cheese square and omfg the potatoes! But I will admit I kept looking at the servers because I loved their style. You see I grew up late 90s early 2000s was when I was in high school. I was thinking about how adorable these girls are pulling off their wide legged jeans and just giggling to myself the style is coming back… I will say I had 99in bottom kick wear so mine were way way cooler 🤣😅🤦♀️ but what caught me by surprise was when our server looked at me and said “you’re so pretty” it was so random. Out of no where. And it made me tear up. I’ve had self esteem issues my entire life. I have low confidence and am often way too hard on myself. For her to say that to me at random meant so much and seemed so genuine. That tiny compliment changed my entire day plus my birthday weekend which I hate celebrating as is. I just wanted to thank that young woman/person and let them know I appreciate them. It takes just a tiny moment to be kind. You boasted my confidence, made my birthday better, made me tear up in joy, and just simply made me smile by being kind. Thank you. Thank you so much.
Also the gave me tiny Tabascos when I asked for hot sauce which excited me a...
Read more10 minute wait to be seated which is not something i shake my head about., then We were warned that they were "exceptionally busy" and there may be a wait for the food. "Would we like to start with a pretzel it will come out fast" there was a small wait to sit, but this place was NOT slammed, so what? 30 min i would think? Let's have a pretzel. We were seated by the door near the kitchen. There is a Westminster chime bell that goes off constantly. What is it for? No food is leaving. It is obnoxious! The music (thus the atmosphere) very loud and stuffy even with the doors open 5 feet away, Clostrophobic. Staff is so loud, and so busy, but nobody is carrying food. 30 minutes, no meal gets carried out, I'm watching and counting. 45 minutes, we are bored, we are wondering if it's worse to leave or wait? 5pm the waitstaff all goes in the kitchen and have a cheer "Only One More Hour".. feustrating because yes that's how long I have waited for my food. Another hour? i hope that wasnt for me? There is 1 bathroom, single, and always someone standing near the tables waiting for it. The sandwiches eventually came, were bland. Dry. Fried mozzarella was flavorless. Frozen? 1.5 hours from seat to check. Yes we were charged for the pretzel, yes we were charged for drinks(no alcohol here) and 2 sandwiches.. no apology.. They don't hand you a check either. Almost $100 for 2 of us. Yes we were tired, and no we wanted no more of the Helen experience. It was time to go home. This place was not a let down, it was a "drag down". Absolutely not a chance of going back...
