First off, let’s get to the reason to why you’re staying in this hotel. I would say this is definitely a great spot if you want to close to town of Helen, Ga. Neighbors who live around the area, is super nice and was great to get along with. Other than that the hotel pretty much only has that going about itself.
Staff: They were cool and nice. Helped with needs immediately.
Room Check: I came here with my grandmother. We had to switch up rooms due to how dirty the rooms were. When we first entered our first room on the first floor. We could tell it was very much outdated. The bedding look put together but not washed and even when I went to sit on it, I immediately got itchy.
We decided to ask to switch rooms. The staff was understanding and immediately switched us to a room on the third floor. As much as we wanted to consider a “better choice”; it wasn’t. The only thing probably better was the shower being updated and the bathroom looked a bit brighter than the dimmed lights in the one before. It still was dirty to where we didn’t use the bathroom other than the toilet ( we had to keep wiping down before use) and the sink. And there was NO WAY I WAS STEPPING IN THAT SHOWER.
The bedding for the second room still wasn’t better. It still look like the last guest was still there and left their sleep sweat on the pillows and stuff. We laid towels to sleep on top since we had to stay, we tried convincing ourselves we could make it work and then seeing it was way too late to drive home.
Oh two things broken within our “update room”, we went out to eat and tried to use the fridge to save the rest of our leftovers but sadly the fridge didn’t work so leftovers was wasted pretty much. We have a door in our room that leads to the guest next to us room. To tell you, safety wasn’t all the way prioritized. The door blocker was there (thank god!) but honestly it would’ve still been easy access to our room. If the guest next to us wanted to give us a quick visit. We had to use a chair to help block the door just in case. Not much but it’s all we got. The tv is outdated too but you can still watch shows or whatever’s on at the moment so no complaints. Not only the walls are paper thin so TV’s, conversations and movement can be heard within this hotel.
I will say though, if you got the balcony view to your room. It’s a very pretty view, especially on the third floor.
Breakfast: It was nice to have a meal for the morning, that’s all I can say. So thank you for that.
Overall, the experience is not a great one and honestly if you are a germaphobe or know that these would not be okay to you. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. And I mean literally wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. There’s always...
Read moreWhile I did not choose this hotel myself by the pictures and majority of reviews I had thought it was a solid choice for the area. And it’s a Hampton hotel. What could be bad? Well….There was plenty. The first issue was our kind sized “suite” we walked in and the air was stagnant and musty. Not a good first impression. Carpets were stained. Walls were splattered here and there with unidentifiable scud and Dust. The Dust was my dealbreaker. It just felt yucky. The friends we were traveling with had a better albeit not perfectly cleaned room. We went to front desk with pictures and the clerk was very understanding. Gave us a better room on the same floor for a lower rate. But honestly it still wasn’t fantastic. I’ll elaborate on the second room. There was still plenty of dust and hair in the corners of the bathroom. But at least no weird scud splatters and musty stained up un vacuumed rugs. One thing I did notice was some pet hairs on our covers and sheets. I honestly wonder if they had been washed. I would like to think so but…..I couldn’t be sure. I wanted to take a bath because I felt icky. Unfortunately there was no stopper in the bathtub or shampoo or body wash. I had really been looking forward to that jacuzzi tub in the other king suite. ☹️ So I had to use my husband’s body wash and I now smell like a fresh alpine forest. 😬 🌲 I had been wanting to visit Helen for a while and this was my 45th birthday weekend extravaganza. Yay!🫠 |We Slept l….decently on the bed but the air conditioner had adhd. It kept turning on and off all night long. Like seriously. On for two seconds then off for five. On for two and off for five….. So after my “restful” nights sleep I had another alpine fresh shower to help ease my stoved up muscles and was going to dry my hair but the hair dryer smelled like burnt popcorn when I turned it on and I was a little hesitant to press my luck. So we went down to have breakfast at 9:30. It ends at 10. It was standard Hampton fare those little cheese omelets, toasted potatoes, danish and little pancakes and some sausage and oatmeal. The food wasn’t the hottest but a microwave fixed that problem and we saved $50 on breakfast eating out. Would I stay here at this Hampton inn again….. Hmmm. I don’t think so unless it had a MAJOR overhaul in management and their housekeepers were retrained. I was however thankful for a warm place to stay and there was a nifty night light in the bathroom that I could truly appreciate as well as a lovely little river view. It could be so much more if the time, money and proper training were invested into it because it is in a great centralized location...
