I've been here twice; once in the morning around 10:00am and the second in the afternoon around 4:00pm. First time the wait was bad; we were told 15 minutes but it was more like 45 minutes. We had thought about getting breakfast but since we had so much time to look at the menu, we decide the option to choose 3 different petite items was a better choice for us and once we were seated the server simply asked for the lunch menu to be brought to us. While we waited for our food we had some triple berry mimosas and they were great. The food came out promptly and without a doubt, it was the best grilled cheese and tomatoe soup I'd ever had. The petite strawberry cheesecake was just right because it was packed with so much flavor anything larger would have been too much for just one person. The second time there was no wait, the server was just as nice as the first time and the berry mimosas were once again great; however, everything else was terrible including the managers attitude. Since my first experience with the menu had been so positive, I decided to play it safe this time and ordered the exact same thing but I was told strawberry cheesecake was out. I went with the bread pudding instead, but I'll tell you about that later. First my grilled cheese was made on regular bread and there was hardly any cheese, not like the first time which was on Texas toast and the cheese was definitely there. Second my soup was cold and clumpy like it wasn't completely cooked or heated or something. Third I asked for a slice of avocado both times, the first time it was on the side but the second it was actually inside the grilled cheese. For some reason it was the manager who brought our food out and when I realized the avocado was in the sandwich, I commented with my table not with her but she took offense, gave me a face and walked off to tell at the server thinking I didn't want the avocado. Poor server comes running over asking if she'd made a mistake which she hadn't. I simply explained I would have like my avocado on the side but I wad fine talking it out. She felt so bad for the incident that she brought me an additional round of mimosa. I said I would talk about the bread pudding later and it's time. The bread pudding was so hard and flavorless that I sent it back there weren't any other petite dessert options available and at this point I e's so disappointed with the meal that I didn't care. We asked for the check and were ready to leave completely disappointed but one again the server came through with 4 muffins to take home to make up for the dessert fiasco. If I based the review solely on the servers at this place they'd get a 5 star, their food 3 and their manager 1; but that's not how these reviews work so a 4 it is for...
Read moreWhen I first started dating and after I got engaged to my wife we went to Mimi's constantly. We now have 4 kids and it's been years since we've been back; however, I doubt I'll ever go back again.
We arrived to wait 4 minutes to be greated. I then waited 3 more minutes to be seated. There was no line and no one else was greeted or seated before or while we were there. The table we were sat at was cleaned and ready the entire time and the waiter was the same who was working with the hostess the same as when we arrived. No reason for the delay that I could see.
After waiting 8 minutes at the table we were able to get our drinks. With a family of 6 having a 15 minute delay from door to drinks is actually a large enough irritation to not go back; however, it gets worse. We then waited 5 more minutes to get our food order in and 27 minutes to get our food and we ordered food that was intentionally quick/easy to make (mac and cheese, and the wife and I both had chicken plates). We had been there for nearly an hour before we got food... and the food was not as good as we remember.
The waiter complained three times about other guests to us, including telling us about how his last customer skipped out and didn't pay their bill. The portions were not equal, the kids food arrived staggered as the waiter decided to serve us 4 of our meals, go and serve another table their meals, then serve us 2 more meals. They didn't refill the bread or drinks once while we waited on the food.
As far as the quality of the food, it is absolutely nothing special. We used to love the food here but I feel like my wife and I wanted to have a fun memory while getting a decent meal and instead got a high priced frustration.
I am glad for the memories in the past... as the wait staff and kitchen both appear to not be what they were that will, as far as I'm concerned, be the last intentional visit to Mimi's...
Read moreOkay, I'm starting my review with a statement and I never sugarcoat anything. I always read the reviews left by others who have either visited or have eaten at and I look for the flaws or poor quality of food that they have mentioned and I barely found a single negative thing wrong with this establishment and/or it's employees!!. My wife and I went in for lunch because I had never been to Mimi's Cafe and my wife surprised me by pulling in to the parking lot. We walked in and were seated within a couple of minutes and our drink order was taken right away. The waitress came and took our order ( it did take a bit, only because they are very short staffed ), but I ordered the brioche burger 🍔 and my wife ordered the 'Sandwich Trio' which was a Turkey Royale (Turkey Salad sandwich ), French onion soup and Fries. I had asked for my burger to be a medium rare, but it came out medium well. I politely let them know that it was not right and they promptly rectified the small issue by remaking my entire meal without question and the second burger was " spot on perfect!" The only issue my wife had with her meal was the French onion soup 🍲, it was just a bit over salted but to be very honest, french onion 🧅 soup can be overbearing or under appreciated by some, trust me I have made it from scratch and it's just more complicated than your basic soup.. The employees of this location were the most professional and polite staff that you will encounter! The food was outstanding, even if there was a slight hiccup. We will definitely go back! P.S. , Buy the muffins, they are truly worth every...
