FOOD: 5 stars TREATMENT TO MY MOM ON MOTHER'S DAY: 1 star RECOMMENDATIONS: Red Velvet Pancakes, Cookies 'n Creme Pancakes, Lolo's Chicken Adobo Fried Rice.
I have been to 5 out of 6 Babystacks locations and started going to them when there were only 2 locations in 2012 and I don't live in Nevada. I am just in town often and Babystacks is always a stop on the trip! One time, my husband and I drove straight from Phoenix to Henderson's Babystacks.
THE STACKS: the stacks are delicious! Absolutely indulgent. My favorite part is they are slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, like a fluffy cake with an outer crust. If you don't want it THAT sweet I've had friends order the toppings on the side as well. Always check the board too for their seasonal stacks! During COVID, I had them To Go and they were still pretty good. I've never actually tried to reheat them or take them home
LOLO'S CHICKEN ADOBO FRIED RICE: I add cholula on mine, for an amazing added flavor. It also reheats VERY well and is quite large, so I usually order this with an upgrade to whichever flavored stack I'd like and eat mostly the stack and save this for the next day! I will say there is a bit of inconsistency with the amount of meat:rice ratio - it's been MUCH better with my most recent stays
THE UPGRADES: Overall, I am impressed with their pricing on adding on any of their Babystacks to an entree. However, if you get carried away on your order, you may not notice how many extra upgrades were added
THE ONE STAR REVIEW: The entire staff's reaction and defensiveness to my mom's simple question was quite frankly disheartening and rude. I was so excited to finally introduce my mom to Babystacks, as she just moved to the area and they had recently re-opened following COVID-19. It was Mother's Day 2020, less than a week after she buried her husband whom she JUST moved to the area with and I thought I would treat her to a delicious breakfast and it was delicious but sorely spoiled. My mom ordered Portuguese Sausage and Eggs with toast, upgrade to garlic rice and upgrade to German Chocolate Pancakes. When the bill came, she was wondering why she was charged for 3 upgrades rather than the 2. Jokingly, she asked the waiter, which of the items was included in her meal. She got a very defensive and quite frankly, rude answer explaining that garlic rice and the pancakes were upgrades, which we knew. We dropped it and walked to the cashier who automatically asked how everything was. So, my mom replied that she doesn't understand the upgrades. The cashier was clearly half-listening, asked us to hold on while he finished other things than addressed my mom. Again, gave us the defensive answer with the same waiter walking over to again give his defensive answer. At this point, I stepped in and explained, we understand the upgrade. She is simply asking a question of what side order her meal came with, without being charged an upgrade and quite frankly, she got attacked for it. She didn't say we were going to pay anyway. Especially when there was only ONE other couple in the restaurant. YES, there were a lot of to go orders, BUT, during the time that we were there there were several staff just waiting around as it just reopened, so the answers we got were as though the staff couldn't be bothered. I have introduced 3 families that now live in the area, to Babystacks - 1 of which frequents them quite often and often recommend Babystacks to anyone going to the area - which there are a lot of people in Arizona that visit Vegas quite often.
I am closest to this location when I am frequently in town, but will no longer patronize the location. I would probably stop going, if I didn't love their food so much. Overall, I've had good customer service at other locations and at this one 2-3x before.
Overall, the food is worth it - some more than others, but just be aware of the upgrades. And God forbid you have a simple question, be sure to get...
Read moreThe taste is excellent, the portions are small for the price... My son got a summer job and wanted to treat me to breakfast. We did some searching and found Babystacks. He thought their menu sounded great, so this is where we went. The menu is big and a bit confusing. It was hard to figure out how to get their specialty pancakes with eggs bacon and hasbrowns. Those were on a different menu page from the pancakes and were an upcharge for the +premium pancake toppings - but you only got 2 baby pancakes with them (thus the name "Babystacks") My son is a big guy (6' 6") with a big appetite. In order to get what he ultimately wanted (corned beef, eggs, hashbrowns, cinnamon pancakes, and sausage), several items were add-ons - which really drove the cost up. I had the bananas foster pancake combo, which was excellent but small in portion size as well. I ate everything on my plate - which is a testament to the small portions, as I never finish everything! Sadly, he finished everything he had and was still hungry. But he was not willing to buy anything else, as our tab was already around $65 for just the 2 of us. I took photos of the menu and uploaded them here so that anyone looking to eat here could see current menu prices. Yes, food prices have gone up everywhere, but most restaurants still give you a good amount for your money. Not Babystacks... their slogan should be: "amazing taste, tiny portions!" By the time he tipped, my son spent $74 on breakfast. That was almost half his first paycheck from his first summer job. This was a great lesson in economics for him as a 19 year old seeing how far (or not far) one's hard earned money goes... But it broke my heart to see him so dissatisfied and disappointed (and still hungry) over what was intended to be a nostalgic and wonderful experience. To add to the disappointment, one restroom was out of service, so the wait was long for the only bathroom in service, in a small and chaotic hallway. The diner atmosphere was loud, and it was crowded with people packed in everywhere. If you read other reviews I've written, you'll see that I leave mostly positive reviews, so when I take the time to write a negative review, it's for good and justifiable reason... I hope Babystacks reads this review and decides to fix their restroom and increase their portion size. For the prices they charge, they would still make a nice profit with improved portions and would have much happier customers at the end...
Read moreMy son recommended this breakfast place so we went there today 8/4/19 . We sign into the waiting list around 11:20 am and I knew it was going to be a wait because there was quite a bit of people waiting. The lady taking names said the waiting time was goin be about 30 mins or less. We waited, and waited. 30 mins later I see most people that came after us desapearing because they were getting seated. I go inside and ask if I'm getting close to get a table as I look in the list while the girl is telling me that three more people are ahead of me, I notice that above and below my name a bunch of names are crossed out. I go back to waiting some more and as people are showing up and within 3 mins, they are getting seated at this point it has passed 45 mins since the initial signed in, so I go back in and tell them that there is 3 empty tables outside, I don't care about the heat, we are all hungry and frustrated for the long wait. So I think God was testing my patients because everything went wrong from there. We asked for water with no ice and got extra ice in it. I asked for iced coffee and I got hot coffee and the last draw was the cashier. She processed the payment and fold up the receipt and dropped it right by her register, so when I extended my hand for my receipt she said, "there it is"! Pointing at it on the counter. I worked in customer service for 15 years and today these people got and A+ on bad customer service. The food was amazing!!! And if these girls would get customer service training it would be even better!!!! I'm still going to give them one more try before I can...
