We've visited this restaurant several times since buying a second home in Las Vegas. Like any other establishment, it has pros and cons.
Pros: The service. Always impeccable. It's also casual - you can wear jeans or something dressy and never feel out of place. They also have a nice bar area if you just want to hang out. It's well maintained and they have great bread.
Cons: My husband and I have been trying to figure out why this place isn't at the top of our dining favorites any longer in spite of having eaten there many times. The best we can come up with is that somehow, since we started visiting last year, the food has gone down on quality. It's almosts imperceptable, but it has. Case in point: he's never had a meal there that he's genuinely raved about and he's tried almost everything. In his words, everything is mediocre. As for me, I always have the same thing - spaghetti and meatballs. Half the time, the meatballs are still pink in the middle, which isn't appetizing. The marinara is good - not outstanding, but very good. The spaghetti? I'm sure they make it on the premises, so it's fresh. It's a different consistency. It's usually good. But at our last visit, it was quite chewy. Rubbery. I don't really like my pasta that chewy. The chopped salad used to be great but the last one we had was so full of straight-up vinegar as a dressing we decided not to get it again. I could go on, but you get the point. I used to love the restaurant, but I'm sorry to say that it has become 'just average'.
Would I recommend it? I would. In spite of everything, I would. As I said, the service is great. And it is a nice meal in general. Be aware that it is literally in a casino, with no walls, so you're going to get all of the...
Read moreI will just start by saying I'm highly disappointed and sad!
My husband and I decided to give the Italian restaurant inside the sunset station called Pasta Cucina a try, we were super excited because we had heard a lot of great things about the food and the restaurant itself.
what an extreme disappointment.
I could have made better scratch pasta and sauce from home!
I had the pasta with shrimp, muscles, clams and calamari.
The (4) shrimpđ€ in my dish were overcooked along with the calamari, it was as hard as a rock!
The sauce was about 3 tablespoons full and lacked any flavor.
My husband's dish was the same and mostly just pasta with some kind of water broth??
When my husband and I first arrived at the restaurant, we decided to sit at the bar for a bit more liveliness, camaraderie and some friendly conversation. we received nothing of the sort.
We were more less treated like we were homeless and looking for a hand out....?
The bartender (Robert) was extremely dry and distant and seemed agitated that we even sat there.
He never introduced himself or even said welcome in.... We tried to talk to him several times, but no response.
The question from him when we sat down was "what to drink"? Very direct and impersonable.
He made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.
The food honestly was not worth the money charged and we won't go back.
I find it so disappointing and sad that this is what our society accepts as fine dining and will pay for it, What a let downđ„ș
PLEASE, PLEASE don't waste your money, your time or your taste buds.
The steak đ„© house (Sonoma Cellar) is tenfold better and definitely a fine dining experience, they are very warm and welcoming!!
Majorly...
Read moreI am very disappointed to have to say this because itâs one of my favorite restaurants, but we had a pretty undesirable experience tonight. We stay the Sunset station all the time and eat at all of the restaurants here frequently. We love the food at Pasta Cucina and we usually have a great experience with the staff. We are here for work from out of town very often and we work 10 hour days, so we are always happy to get off work and enjoy a good meal. We made sure to get there as soon as we could, at least 30 minutes before close for their late night happy hour. As soon as we sat down, the bartender made it very clear that he was extremely busy and very put out. We were very kind and said no worries. He let us know that they would be closing in a half an hour, as to let us know we needed to hurry. We ordered immediately as to accommodate their closing. He was very rude and made it clear that he was ready to get out of there. Our food is always good here and tonight was no exception, but we ate it so fast we didnât even enjoy it, and brought most of it back to our room to eat cold. It was a very uncomfortable situation. If they are going to advertise happy hour from eight until close then when I get there at 8:30 I should be made to feel welcome and not rushed. We will be back, but I donât think I will be sitting in the bar anymore if this particular bartender is working. Itâs too bad that one person can make for a bad experience. Itâs your job dude. Do it well or not at all. I usually tip heavy, but...
