Terrible Management & Lack of Concern for Public Health If I could give zero stars, I would. My son has been a dedicated line cook at this Rubio’s location for the past two years. He has never called out, never been late, and is easily one of the hardest workers on the team. Despite his strong work ethic, he was treated with complete disrespect by the manager, Nancy, when he fell ill. On Friday, February 14th, he woke up with a 103-degree fever and was clearly coming down with the flu that is currently going around. He contacted Nancy with plenty of notice to let her know he was too sick to work. Instead of showing any concern for his health or the safety of the customers eating here, she refused to let him call out and told him he had to come in. Keep in mind—he is a line cook. The fact that she prioritized her own convenience over the well-being of both employees and customers is beyond unacceptable. When he put in his two weeks’ notice due to her disrespectful and unprofessional behavior, she responded by telling him that his last day was yesterday, effectively firing him on the spot. This kind of treatment is appalling, not only for employees but also for customers who should expect higher health and safety standards from a restaurant. If this is how Rubio’s treats its staff and handles food safety concerns, I highly recommend avoiding this location. Poor management, zero regard for employee well-being, and a blatant disregard for public health. Do...
Read moreTonight was our first time going to Rubio’s coastal grill for dinner tonight, the one off of sunset rd, my husband ordered the grilled shrimp and bacon burrito and I ordered the grilled or house blackened burrito choice of wild pacific mahi mahi or wild Alaskan coho salmon. Unfortunately the food was not made correctly, my husbands grilled shrimp and bacon burrito had onions and tomatoes on it and on the menu it states what comes on the burrito and no where it says, it comes with onions or tomatoes, so unfortunately my husband was not able to enjoy his burrito, he hates onions and tomatoes, so all he could do is pick out the 4 shrimp that were in the burrito and that was his dinner, my burrito was ok, the only ingredient mine was missing was the fire roasted corn, and the guacamole and chips was disappointing, we had like 30 chips and a small 4oz scoop of guacamole, you get more chips then guacamole. This restaurants was very disappointing, not a first good impression, employees really need to work on knowing the menu better when they make peoples food, we will not be going back anytime soon. For anyone who reads this make sure you check your ingredients on your burritos before you leave...
Read moreWe were out shopping and my guy was getting a little hangry, so I hustled down Sunset in search of something we would all enjoy. I saw Rubio’s and whipped my truck in. Boy, I’m so glad I stopped here.
The cashier welcomed us and waited as we made up our minds on the menu. We were first timers and had several menu questions, the cashier was very patient and assured us that she was ready when we were.
After paying for our meal, we took a number and found a table. They have a salsa bar, so we got our salsa and sat down. Our food was on the table in about 10 minutes.
I had the Burrito Especial with Impossible meat… yummy, yum, yum was it good. I had to do a double-take at my Burrito to make sure it wasn’t real meat, that’s just how delicious it was. My son had the kids quesadilla, and my spouse had the Burrito Especial with chicken. My burrito came with a side salad; the salad dressing was so delicious I’m going back just to see if they will let me buy dressing for my homemade salads.
Overall, our food was tasty and everyone was very satisfied. Reasonable prices, clean restaurant, and friendly staff. We will definitely...
