This was our second visit. The two stars are for the onion chips. There was no line in the drive thru but we went inside. Workers were walking back and forth but no one stopped to take our order. It was at least 8 to 10 minutes before someone came to the register. In the mean time cars pulled into the drive thru and their orders were taken right away. We waited 15 minutes for our order. Mean while order after order went out the drive thru. We were told they were just waiting on a fresh batch of onion chips 3 times. Apparently they have a long fry time. We finally get our 10 white castles with cheese and our large onion chips. Oh buyer beware, their large is like a small fry from Mc Donald's. I miss the sack of onion chips but will remember to order more next time. Yes the onion chips were hot and fresh but the sliders were luke warm at best. The cheese was barely melted. I stood there and watch them pull fresh sliders off the grill for the drive thru but ours came bagged up from around the corner.
I watched the manager completely empty the two grills they had running before starting to cook more sliders. Which brought everything to a stand still. The lines inside and outside began to grow. They only cleaned one grill the second one they just thru more onions on with the old yellowing ones.
The party that ordered right after us got their food as we were leaving.
The restaurant dining area was dirty. Tables needed to be wiped down and the floors mopped.
I ate white castle for more than 15 years in Indiana and I have never had experiences like this. Especially from a brand new location.
We were so excited about this location because now we don't have to drive all the way to the strip. But alas it's back to the strip or buy the ones from the frozen section at smith's. I doubt we will come back to this location.
Our first visit was two weeks after they opened and we were trapped in the drive thru for well over an hour. They charged us for the wrong order and the food was ice cold. It was like the bag had just been pulled out of the refrigerator. We refused the food and it took an additional 20 minutes to get a refund. The manager actually laughed at us when we complained and said that people were waiting well over 2 hours...
Read moreMy family and I, and my friend's family decided to give white castle a try because the in n out close by is typically very busy. When we get to white castle, we were smiling and happy because there was no one there so we were expecting to get our food quick and easy.
We then are standing there and waiting and wondering what's going on because we still haven't ordered. We see there is one person working the drive through register, and then the front counter.
My friend orders finally and when I think it's my turn to order, the person goes back to the drive through to take that order and then finally gets to me. There's literally one person working both front counter, drive through, and online orders.
Looking at the menu, they have this family meal with 10 sliders 2 fries and 2 drinks but that comes without cheese, if you want cheese, it'll bring the total close to $30. We go with 2 $9.99 meals which come with 4 sliders fries and a drink(8 sliders, 2 fries and 2 drinks).
With having kids with us, we asked for the sliders to be plain, but we are told "we will do our best to scrape them off"(if the food is pre-made, then why is it taking so long to give out the orders, shouldn't the food be good to go to pass out?).
Once we finally get our food, there was nothing really special about it. Had the food been on point, I could've given this place at least a 3 star review, but there was actually nothing different from this and the frozen ones they sell at Walmart/Sams club, taste wise. These were a little more "fresh" than the frozen ones, but they still tasted the same.
From the time it took for us to wait to place our order, to get our food, we probably would've been better off at the "busy" in n out. Definitely would've saved money at in n out since my family and I typically just order 3 cheese burgers and 2 fries for about $16 vs the $24+ we spent here and was still hungry.
Without having that whole "east coast/west coast" bias, In n Out is definitely a way better choice to go to. With how busy in n out is compared to white castle, they were still faster. If White castle ever had that many people in n out gets, there's no way this place would survive.
They should've kept this building as...
Read moreIt was food. We were gingery and it all tasted great but there was something lacking. Our fries were served cold. They weren’t very good at all. The staff wasn’t really up for it that day. When I say that I mean it was empty in there, it was almost like you can feel a demeanor of them just walking around doing not much. They were nice, took our order correctly, but that “extra customer service with a smile” wasn’t as bright as they were, talking with one another in the back. The best sliders there were the vegetable ones. The fish ones were great, the chicken ones were great but you go to McDonald’s and get a fish sandwich or a chicken sandwich and it’s nice and juicy. I felt these were very dry and just like the fries they just weren’t up to par. I really believe they have been sitting there for a while. They may have been in between shift change, or had left over from dinner rush. But you can taste that they were dry. The impossible meat which is a vegetarian option was amazing. I’ve eaten the impossible meat before and for those that are vegan, you can get them with no cheese. For those that are vegetarian, you can put cheese on them and they taste like a regular little cheeseburger. But I was most surprised about the veggie. In the picture you can clearly see pieces of carrots, zucchini, soy bean or edamame. I mean it’s a bunch of vegetables. I really did like those. Now the price, it’s a bit expensive. Especially for the quality that we got. My friend and I ended up getting 7 sliders each, one order of fries to share and two drinks. It was near 50 bucks. The sliders are a decent size. I’d say they’re about 20% bigger than the ones you would get in the frozen section at the grocery store. But the ones at the grocery store that you make it home come out juicy and taste great. i’m gonna have to return and give this place another chance. I’m thinking that maybe everybody was just kinda not with it at that time. It could’ve...
