Updated review regarding the reply.
First of all we did eat in their yesterday. We have been eating there many times. Ever since you have been there, there has never been corn in the egg drop soup, until we ate there yesterday. We came over our lunch break. I hate to say this, I didn't call. I brought it to the attention of our server while we were there. After I read your update I did call the Madison restaurant. The person told me the Madison store has corn because they also have egg flower soup which has corn that they get out of the same pot. I was told the Hendersonbille restaurant does not have egg flower on their menu. They said there should not be corn in the egg drop soup in Hendersonville. I am sorry you have me confused with someone else. I never said what sex our server was. I didn't say we liked it. I said we didn't like it. Your reply does not add up to what I said. You need to get new camera's. How do you know what I look like to find us on your video camera. The attitude you give off in your reply tells we don't want to spend our hard earned money there. You need to be nice to your customers in your reply. A. R. J. L.
This review is for China Cottage in Hendersonville.
I came in with a coworker yesterday for lunch. We both ordered egg drop soup with an entrée. We both love their egg drop soup because they don't put corn in it. Yesterday our egg drop soup had so much corn in it, we could not eat it. Our server said they don't put corn in the egg drop soup. We showed our server all the corn in both our bowls. Our server said the Madison store has corn in their egg drop soup, but this restaurant in Hendersonville doesn't do that. The whole time our server kept saying they don't do it here, while looking right at the corn. Consistency is very important at a restaurant. When they start changing recipes, people stop coming. Not coming...
Read moreFood was disgusting. So sad that there isn't an authentic Chinese food place around these parts ANYWHERE!! What is the problem with these cooks down here. You get your supplies from NY please get their recipes too!! You people have zero clue of what you're doing!! Even New Orleans knows how authentic chinese should be prepared and taste., WHY CAN'T YOU PLACES DO THE SAME? This is so sad!!
In response to your message below, I appreciate you taking the time to read and acknowledge. However in ordering a basic staple if I'd known you needed to be told how to cook it. I most certainly would have instructed you how to prepare it. I've had to do this at other places that were close but still missing the mark. Also at the same time trying a new place at the first time I shouldn't have to tell you what standard chinese should taste like if your location populates for "authentic". That's like saying McDonald's should be told how to make a big mac (not that I'd touch that trash with a 10 foot pole).😂 If you're in a particular market, the standard comes from somewhere for the reason you say you make "chinese food". Nevertheless. Thank you again for your response, should the opportunity come for me to attempt again, I'll be sure to bring my recipe for you to follow so you can make it exactly how it should taste, or just make it myself as I do instead of taking the gamble on. If this makes you feel any better, your establishment isn't the worst offender of Sumner county. Fortune House on Main has secured...
Read moreLong time fan of the location in Madison. I stopped by for lunch one time so far and ordered off the lunch special part of the menu which is different than the family style / dinner part. The hot and sour soup was ok, I asked for more pepper and they have black pepper in a shaker which is fine but white pepper and more vinegar would have made it a lot better. It came with fried noodles which were also ok. Next time I'll see if I can get some spring onions to go with. I ordered an egg roll and it was fantastic, obviously made in house and not frozen, solid and full of cabbage and really hot and fresh. Next I got sweet and sour pork with fried rice. The fried rice is pretty plain as is most places around here, but off the lunch menu, so if you ordered off the dinner menu it may be different. Sweet and sour pork was battered in house and was like most people are used to getting sweet and sour chicken. A little doughy but I'm pretty sure the meat was pork tenderloin and had a good flavor and texture. It needed more green pepper, carrot, and onion but if you know about the location in Madison the lunch stuff is really pared down compared to the dinner options which is understandable. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu at...
