First the pros: excellent atmosphere and ambience. Whoever designed the decor did a great job.
Mid: they only serve steak medium rare, which is kind of odd. But also, it was almost medium, so maybe that's for the best. All the the items all a la carte, so $30 for a 10oz sirlion and another $6 for the fries. They add the liquor tax separately, so add 15% to any drink you order. My drink was $14 + $2.10 tax. I'm not mad about it, but it's something to keep in mind. I got a brown butter and banana old fashioned. The brown butter was good but it had no essence of banana at all. Instead, they added an orange twist, which is fine (it's an old fashioned) but clashed with the theme of the drink. It was good otherwise. Service was very slow. The server was new so i cut him some slack but while we were there not one but TWO tables got up and left before anyone ever went to their table. My kale salad was good but too heavy on the pecorino.
The cons: the food wasn't good enough to warrant the prices. The steak and fries were decent but you could have obtained them at texas roadhouse for half the price. I was going to get a slice of cheesecake but everything took so long i decided to forego it. My SO ordered unsweet tea and was brought lightly sweetened tea. It was actually good, but not what he ordered. I ordered the bucatini pasta. It was, for lack of a better word, terrible. Undercooked (not al dente, just hard), dry, clumpy. I'm Italian and I know I can be critical, but yikes. You couldn't even separate it with your fork. If you tried to pick up a bit to eat, the whole plate came with it in a giant clump. I sent it back. The server said it was fried. What?! Surely not. But maybe it was. Who even knows as terrible as it was. Bucatini is a hollow pasta meant to be used with sauces because the hollow core allows it to be coated on both the inside and outside. To serve it so dry and undercooked is a travesty.
Anywho, we...
Read moreSo we went here on a Saturday night and really liked the atmosphere, that's probably the top feature it's just relaxing. As far as the staff , everyone was nice but when we asked questions to the servers about the menu it seemed as if they had never been asked questions before because there was a hesitation in answering and a look of confusion at first. We looked at the menu and at of the 3 entre meat options , 1 (sirloin) had run out and neither of the others came with any sides which you had to order separately and their sides were very limited and lacking diversity and didn't exactly pair well with the 3 meat options. There was NO veggie options for sides and we had to make a special request for the salad which had no lettuce and there was option to add lettuce which is a first for me at any restaurant. Basically what you see is what you get and there really isn't any accommodating much and if you have an allergy and are looking for options this might not be the best place to go and eat. I'm sure they coffee and drink options are probably good so maybe I would suggest coming back if you're just meeting someone for coffee or don't mind a very very limited menu. At the end of the night the salad we asked to be custom which was just spinach and kale , we got charged a full $14 for the price of the salad on the menu not what we had asked so we had to request for an adjustment because paying $14 for a palm of kale and spinach was outrageous which thankfully they adjusted that for us. Once again, might be a better place for drinks and hanging out than a dinner night out. Also a bit pricey , but I'll just blame that...
Read moreWe went here for cocktails and food during their opening week. Overall we had a great experience.
Vibe: The atmosphere is very inviting and unlike anything else in Hendersonville. The lighting, furniture, decor, and music all provide a very classy environment. It’s a really excellent space.
Cocktails: We ordered a few to try and they were all delicious and had great presentation. There were quite a few liquors we had never heard of on the menu, but our server was helpful at giving an overview and recommendations.
Food: We started by ordering the bread and butter as an app but it was disappointing. First off, for $12, it is absolutely not worth it. It tasted no different than the free bread and butter that most dinner restaurants provide. Also, there was barely any bread on the platter. The butter is in a candle format that softens as the wick burns. When our server dropped it off at the table, she explained that it would take about 30 minutes for it to soften and become edible. By the time it was soft enough to eat, we can already finished our drinks and the other food we ordered. Also, the butter tasted smoky/burnt from the burning wick. We ordered a variety of baguettes and a poke bowl as well. They were unique and pretty tasty. However they were served to us in to-go boxes which was strange as we dined in, and the bread and butter was served on a plate. We’d recommend they serve the food on actual dinnerware.
Definitely a place worth checking out for cocktails, but would pass on the food. We intend on coming back one morning to try...
