My wife and I entered the restaurant and I had my 8-pound dog in my arms. I was immediately accosted by a very rude employee who screamed "no dogs allowed inside" and as my wife was saying we just wanted to look at the menu board she was interrupted again by the same rude employee who repeated in a loud and hateful tone "no dogs allowed inside." As we turned to walk outside, another employee offered to come out and take our order outside. But we had had enough rudeness to spend our money there and just went elsewhere to dine. Ironically, we drove 20 miles on Friday 6/7/24 at 4pm to come to white duck, because it was a nice day and we wanted to eat outside with our little dog. Apparently, dogs are no longer welcome at white duck, but we will never be back to find out. You just lost some regular customers. But you have at least one employee who obviously doesn't care. **Reply to owner's response: We absolutely understand the need to enforce state regulations, that's not the issue, but we do not have to tolerate being yelled at and talked down to as if we are idiots. Maybe it is because we are elderly, which is an even more serious matter. Anyway, as you know, there are nice ways to treat customers and handle situations. We thank you for your response and we may return because we like the food and it appears that you as the owner care. We will give it some time, though, because we feel certain that your employee with the bad attitude will hopefully move on soon. We, as everyone else, like to spend our time and money at businesses whose employees treat us with basic dignity and respect, no matter how good the...
Read moreMy wife and I went to White Duck for lunch today after a long hike. We came in hungry but left as changed individuals. Where to begin on this life changing journey?
As we walked in the door, we were greeted by Ms Emily. Emily had the warmth of an Appalachian fireplace and took our orders with the briskness of an American Miniature Horse. As we sat outside and enjoyed the shaded tables, you could feel a certain vibe in the air. Was it the warmness of Tacos embrace? Was it the Heaven's shining their light down upon us?
After a short wait, the front doors opened and placed before us were our tacos. The look. The smell. The picturesque presentation. A tear began to roll down my cheek. As a took my first bite my hands began to quiver. How could this food be so good yet so affordable. Had a traveled back in time? Was this my last meal?
"How is everything" I was asked when Emily came to check on us. Such a simple question with no real answer. How could I articulate what was going through my body? Have you ever been brought to your knees by Crispy Pork Belly tacos? Me neither, until this very day.
We finished our meals, packed our stuff and walked away. We came in as a hungry couple and left as changed souls. 10/10 definitely try the Crispy Pork Belly tacos I'm...
Read moreWas excited to try this place after learning that any taco can be made vegan with a jackfruit sub. However, that would also mean the food would have to be good in the first place. Fail. After explicitly stating that I cannot eat spicy food, I was assured that my order was not spicy. So I got three different tacos. Not sure what part of "not spicy" the cashier didn't understand, because the cooks are so heavy handed with the heat that I felt sick after a few bites. Even the avocado puree had heat. All I tasted in all three different tacos was heat, heat, and more heat. I'd rather have stayed hungry than go here and have a sour stomach all afternoon.
Oh, and I just LOVE how they point blank ask you if you want to leave a tip for the staff AT the point of sale. No discreet screen flip or receipt. And for what, exactly? No one came to our table and took our orders (it was counter service) or cleared our table (though they have signs that they'll do that for you IF you don't do it yourself). The guy who brought out our food seemed put off when I did ask for extra sauce (this was before I tasted it - the taco fillings looked really dry). How have we become a culture where people expect tips just for doing their jobs? Before they even...
