WOMEN PLEASE BEWARE! barnacles staff is not safe for women. on January 18th, I went to barnacles with a group of friends. they have two single use restrooms which required by law (AB 1732) are all gender restrooms.
the women’s restroom was occupied. so i went to the other single use restroom available which was a men’s room. a member of the staff @ barnacles— (he was hispanic and roughly around 5’5 in height) came into the restroom I was in while I was unbuttoning my pants and pulling them down. he pulled me out by the back of my jacket, and out of the restroom because I was using a men’s restroom— that isn’t compliant with code signage, and is in fact gender neutral.
this is illegal in california (AB 1782) which barnacles is NOT compliant with, and has staff members that will quite literally follow women like myself into a single use restroom.. that legally is GENDER NEUTRAL and physically pull you out and not allow you to use. I felt violated, I felt embarrassed. when he came in and pulled me out, he said “NO” “you cannot be in here” “you know that” “you are not allowed”.
every women should be aware of this danger when entering barnacles— that they have staff that will not stop at anything and enter into restrooms that are in use, to physically enforce this...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars it would be better. I went with a friend and we both had a few drinks and an order of corn dogs. When I asked for the tab, Erin, the bartender who SITS IN HER PATRON'S LAPS, brought me and my friend the check and we signed it and left a tip. Then as I was telling my friend that I would take her home, Erin told us we had not closed out. She was arguing with me so I took my receipt out and showed her the copy. She proceeded to tell me that that wasn't all I owed and that was from 7pm, so is there an hourly tab or what? When someone asks for the bill you bring the whole amount the first time right? She then got really argumentative and rude to me when I asked her to break down the cost of the drinks and food and she was clueless about how much my drinks were supposed to cost. She said she would check but in a very disrespectful and sarcastic tone. She never checked and avoided me so I put a 20 dollar bill on the bar...
Read moreThis is your traditional dive bar. The perfect place if you're a local. Because otherwise you pretty much get ignored and don't get treated the same. Especially from the annoying bottled blonde who acts like she's entitled. Sweetheart, you're a bartender. Your job isn't that difficult. Tend to customers and talk 💩 On your own time. It's no mystery why you're working behind a bar. If you've got someone waiting for a drink who's literally sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, and you continue to talk about drama bullish?t for oh let's see 5 minutes before even turning your head and acknowledging that someone's waiting for a drink...... you suck as a bartender. Period!!! I've given this place a few too many tries because I'm a lover of dive bars. But my last visit was my LAST! I much rather pay higher prices and be treated like any other customer would at ANYWHERE else. Side note: Irene is probably the only good thing...
