JP's Bagel Express — Restaurant in Hoboken

Food is great. Two stars for poor customer service and attitude from man in charge of expediting. I ordered 1 bagel at 10:48 exactly. I literally work down the block about 3 stores away IN A RESTAURANT. I order every weekend so I completely understand how busy they are. I never complain. I returned exactly 3 times after receiving a 35 minute wait time ( ordered online ). Unfortunately I had to work at 12pm. I returned at 11:15, 11:30 and 11:45. It still was not ready. Finally after clocking in, I was able to get a quick break to run and pick it up.

Not only does the man tell me he threw away my bagel but then continues to argue with me after I explained that I had already returned 3 times. My coworker ordered at 11:45. The final time I returned to pick up all three bagels. Their two bagels were ready while mine was thrown out. Instead of comping my bagel and remaking it . He tells me to pay for it and he would deliver it very rudely. You just lost a customer for a $6 bagel for your rudeness and horrible customer service.

I was picking up my sister, BIL, and niece up from EWR, who were visiting from Hawaii, from a redeye and told them I would get them a nice NYC brekkie (and yes, I know this is Hoboken but you gotta work with what you got). JP's was the only place that was open on a Friday at 6 AM, so I called for a pickup order, and everything was ready on time.

We ordered the Nova Lox Sandwich, BEC on a roll, Sausage and Cheese on a roll, and a side of hash browns. I tried a bite of the Nova Lox and it wasn't bad. I ordered the sausage and cheese for myself and to my surprise, it came with two sausage patties (unlike the the delis in NYC, which come with one patty, which is still more than enough for me - so I wasn't expecting that), but I wasn't mad at it. I couldn't finish the entire sammie but I still enjoyed it. The side of hash browns also unexpectedly came with two but again - no complaints here.

I wish I found out about this place pre-Covid when I was still commuting to work, since it's so close to the Path. But now that I know about it, I will definitely be...

Ordered a bacon and egg and an egg and meat platter with home fries and steak… so annoyed. For my platter, I only got 1 egg that arrived totally mushed and barely even noticeable that it’s an egg. So many home fries.. fine, but I also ordered the steak for $2 more and got the nastiest piece of steak-ums looking steak I’ve ever had. It was horrendous. On top of the I ordered an English muffin with butter to go with it.. hoping it’d make my first time experience better but it was worse. My muffin was soggy and literally drenched in butter. Gross. Will not be ordering from here again.

I was hoping it’d be better as friends have recommended this place tons and of course when I finally give it a shot it’s not up to par. Born and raised in Hoboken and that is by far the worst platter I’ve ever had. General store on 4th & Willow has better quality platters than this.
