We were coming up from NC for NHL stadium series game on a Sunday morning. I had done some research prior to our trip looking for an "authentic" Italian deli near Metlife. I found Luca Brasi's was 6-7 miles out and made the decision to try it out. Never been to Hoboken, but have been to NJ. Knew what to expect getting around. We found the deli pretty easily and I was very happy I chose it. We were there around 11am. My son and I are deep into our Italian heritage and the atmosphere here was perfect to me. It was exactly what I wanted to experience. Vast menu. I had already read up and wanted to try something from the "Meet the Family" menu. I picked the "Fuggeda'boutit sub. Great choice! Great flavor and great look. My son got a chicken parm sub and told me it was one of the best he had ever had. Messy, but good. The young lady that waited on us was awesome. Very friendly. I asked about a t shirt and spoke with an older italian woman who spoke broken english. She was equally friendly. She pulled out a bag of t shirts for me and I gladly paid her $20 for it as a memento. $27 for our meals with fries added. Fair price, great atmosphere that I was looking for. Being a big mobster fan, this great deli checked every box for me. I would absolutely go back if I get to that area again. Well worth it...
Read moreWhat's going on w/this place?!! I moved from Hoboken 9 years ago and stopped in yesterday to get one of my all time fav sandwiches, the legendary Johnny Roastbeef. If the owners are reading this, let me explain what a JRB is. On a hard roll, sliced MED RARE roast beef, THICK SLICED fresh mozz made on premises, and home made BROWN gravy, made MESSY. This version I took home yesterday (which I could have sworn made the car smell like canned tuna) was very neat, on a soft roll, a brown meat-like substance minced finely into a paste like consistency, skimpy portion of a very bland Mozz, and the entire sandwich was overwhelmed with VINEGAR and TUNA, as if the juice from a tuna can was infused into the meat. My cat wouldn't even touch this, and she loves both roast beef and tuna. My family agreed on the tuna stench. I am guessing the vinegar is part of the gravy, which you can't really see, you can just smell it. Maybe the new kind of people that moved into hoboken felt the old JRB was too messy? The brown gravy should be visible and it should require many napkins. It should taste like brown gravy. I went online and noticed the new menu just says "Gravy". Congratulations on turning one of the best sandwiches of all time into the worst. I took maybe 3 bites, it was...
Read moreTerrible delivery service. It’s a shame because I always go here to grab a bite and never had a problem. I ordered 2 breakfast platters and a soup for delivery at 11 and they told me 30 minutes. I’m sick so I didn’t want to go out and pick up despite being less than a mile away. 11:55 I call to get the status of my order, says the driver left this was fine I know how delivery can be around lunch so I wait12:25 I call again, guy tells me he will be here and that theee s traffic I told him I’m not okay with having cold food considering I ordered Eggs and it’s been over an hour and a half. He tells me now that he’d call the driver then calls me back to tell me he’s downstairs, waited another 5 minutes drivers not there. Driver then calls me and tells me he’s on his way and he’s be here in a few more minutes and that apparently he was here but had the wrong number. I told him just forget it and I canceled my order. I know things happen but if you can’t take a moment to communicate with your customers and delivery drivers then you don’t deserve the business. What a disappointment from what I thought was an amazing establishment. Luckily this is Hoboken and I have...
