(Hoboken.jan. 2021). Japanese and Korean cuisine: For starters, I had bowl of Seafood Soup of delicately cooked mussells, baby squid, and kelp. The quantity served in a petite bowl was just right for an appetizer. I enjoyed sharing the Lobster roll on the "Specials" board also as appetizer. The Five Star roll that combines Tuna, yellow tail, salmon with two other sashimi-quality fishes is a nine-piece large roll - done inside-out and topped with two house-blended sauces. (I would have preferred a sprinkling of sesame seeds or Tobiko along with the sauces. But it was very satisfying nevertheless). I also shared a combination 3-roll Maki which, surprisingly, were not at all the large, rice-laden offering one expects but rather delicately prepared thinner rolls so typically Japanese in approach. (Thank you for helping me stick to my carb-restraint diet :-) ) All tasted fresh with no fish aftertaste. Ubu has continuously been in business for 23 years in this locationand kept its loyal clients. Expect an Authentically Asian atmosphere, that also features Korean favorite. Nice and intimate when not busy; safely partitioned dining sections. Call for update on table availability for a...
Read moreAll the sushi was impressive, and it's the only restaurant I've been to that offers a large selection of cooked sushi. We were given a complimentary 3 piece Seared Salmon sushi. It was delicious. The ramen ordered was decent, but it has the thinner type of ramen noodles, and the soup was okay. I prefer the thicker chewie ramen noodles. The plain miso soup was a bit too salty. Avocado salad was fresh and tasty. The server/waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. I asked for no sweet sauces and to have the sushi with minimal rice, and he accommodated with no issues. The restaurant itself is small and cozy. The Saturday evening we went wasn't busy and we were quite happy with not sitting in a crowded noisy place. Yet, the restaurant was quite busy with phone orders. I'll definitely go back to try more of the large selection of raw and cooked sushi and the...
Read moreWorst dine-in experience ever in my life. The waiter/owner was incredibly and impressively RUDE when checking out just because of his own issue(the restaurant computer was dead).
The food is below average even in Hoboken area. If you have ever tried ANY Korean/Japanese restaurant in Fort Lee, you wouldn't think the food here is good.
Reply: I understand exactly what the situation was at the moment. I was happy help you by paying with Zelle, Paypal or Venmo if you ever ASK normally, but what you were doing was keeping cursing, ordering me to take my card out without any explanation in the beginning and interrupting while I was speaking...Try yelling to other customers and see how they react to you. Your personality is even better.
Anyway, this conversation is over. Good luck to...
