Cakabakery on 8th — Restaurant in Holland

I like to periodically go to Cakabakery and enjoy their treats, though I was disappointed with my experience today. I had asked for six confetti cake pops, as I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate cake, just to come home and find out only two of the six cake pops were confetti 🫤. Wondering if a better organization system (colored sticks or ribbons) could help determine flavors. I still ate them, because I already brought them home and cut them up to check their flavors, but would still have preferred to have six confetti cake pops 😞

Funnily enough, I did have a cake order placed for pickup today at the Lakewood location. The woman who helped me (I didn’t get her name) recognized my name from yesterday’s review and if I was the same person. She then offered me desserts or a refund in exchange for the mix up. I declined the desserts and asked for a refund, which she quickly completed for me. She brought me my cake order, which came out perfectly and on time for my sister and her husband 😊. While in town visiting family at Thanksgiving, we visited the Kerstmarkt at the Civic Center. It was pretty cold, and before walking up 8th Street, we wanted to warm up and grab a quick bite. That's when we stumbled on this place.

It is just east of the market, so it's a prime location to pick up a breakfast pastry or drink before shopping downtown. It had just opened, so we were the only customers. The place is pristine and bright and huge with several tables on one side.

My mom and I shared a pecan sticky bun thing, and it was warm and delicious. Don't be fooled by the plate in the photo - it's actually a sturdy, reusable plate made to look like a paper plate. They also provide forks and cups for water.

"Do you guys want a cookie?" The kind young lady yelled as we were walking away. We missed them by a mere 3 minutes, but her question stopped us in our tracks! They actually opened up for us, sold us an amazing cookie dough cake that they thought was going to go to waste. Then, she made good on her offer of cookies! OMG! From the first amazing morsel to the last crumb I was slobbering all over myself. I'm glad I was alone (LOL). Give this gem a try. Their fresh take in flavors, designs, and service will delight...
