Well it is not often you have to say you are glad you did not let ONE episode ruin your attitude so you give the place a second chance. I am so glad we went back to this same restaurant thie past Friday evening. The service we received was absolutely THE BEST of any restaurant we have eaten in in this area. We live in Winston Salem and made two trips down to help my son move. It was very stressful but the young waitress we had Friday was far beyond any we have had even in our area. She was not just good she was GREAT! Very patient, kind, courteous and actually had us smiling and enjoying the fact we came back to eat at IHOP. It is a good thing when someone will EAT their words and honor the service they received and that it must have been just one bad episode, I did not catch her name but I sure would like to eat there again and we will when we return to help him get settled in his new digs. The food too was excellent and served with a smile, I wish I had gotten her name but for the management she is very short with short dark hair, very slim and a winning personality. Thank you for helping me feel better about changing my rating! I will always give someone a second chance and I sure am glad I did, Thankyou...we will be back!!!!!
It is hard to give our waitress and food a rating for the evening of Sunday 7/16 as my family chose this IHOP for a meal with my son and his daughter during our visit with him. The service and food was exceptional and our waitress was one of the best and really on top of her game, Then the problem came the next day 7/17 right before we were to leave and return home to Winston Salem. We placed our order for drinks and my son did not get his lemon with his water, I ordered soft scrambled eggs and they were partly runny, my son ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fruit on the side but received french fries and I had to go to the cash register to tell them to bring him some fruit. The waitress was rude and we did not even get a refill on our tea until we finished eating. We will never eat there again. It was a very bad experience to end our trip when the day before it was excellent thus the 2...
Read moreWe only waited about 7 min even though it was very busy on a Saturday mid morning. We were seated in the back room, by the window. We waited almost a full 15 minutes before being asked if we had been helped. The gentleman was very apologetic and kind. We had time to already decide what we wanted, so we gave the entire order plus our drink order (soda and coffee). Before the food came out we noticed the window sill was laced with ants and they were into the syrup container on the table, which we promptly moved to the sill.
We just figured we could work around it, slightly moving to the end seats away from the table and squishing a few table bound ones, we figured no worries, we could just ask for new syrup. When the food arrived, we commented we needed a new syrup container, and stated the other one had ants. The waitress had no affect, delivering the food she came back with a small bowl of syrup and asked for the container so she could wash it out and bring it back. We said we didn't feel the bowl of syrup was very practical for pouring and asked for a different syrup container, stating it was best to leave the ants undisturbed right now.
We ate quickly, in retrospect, minding the ants, and then while waiting for our check realized the absolute mess of the place. There were so many tables with garbage and food waste on the floor. One table didn't realize they were surrounded by it at their feet. We paid our check and asked for a to-go box.
We will not be returning to this IHOP ever again. What a shame! We had been there several times before and it was kept in much better condition. I think they are overwhelmed by issues due to poor cleaning and serving protocols, while being understaffed. The food was prepared well but the whole experiebcr...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to IHOP for dinner. We sat down right away, but it took about 5 minutes for a server to greet us and get our orders (drink and food). She didn't write down anything we ordered, which is great if you get it all correct, but no need to try to impress. We had ordered an appetizer, which usually comes out first. We got my meal and half of his, but no appetizer. The food looked great, but we couldn't eat it without silverware. Our waitress went back to, in my mind, plug in the food order she had missed (which is usually what I did if for whatever reason I forgot to plug something in for a customer when I was waitressing at a place in Florida). Luckily, there was another server cleaning a couple tables behind us and I had asked her for silverware. By this time, it was time for a refill. Finally, after about 7 minutes, the waitress brings out the hash browns and onion rings she forgot. I'm glad I asked the server that was cleaning for silverware, because we would have had to wait 7-10 minutes AFTER we got our food for silverware. Then, we got the refill we have been waiting for as well. Fast forward, we're done eating, we ask for the check and a box (takes 5 minutes), I sign the check and we leave.
MIND YOU - the time we were there was a little after 8. We were her only table. There were 4 other tables there in the entire restaurant. No reason it should have taken as long as it did for anything being the only table she had. The manager? He was just standing at the front behind the hostess desk doing nothing. Never went around to any table to ask how we were doing, if there was anything we needed. Nothing.
Overall, not a good experience. I'll be traveling to Apex if I REALLY want IHOP, even if it is literally right down the...
