It is very difficult to come across a place, or business for that matter where you feel welcome, important and cared for, from the very beginning. JMD designs is exactly that. My wife and I, were looking for our wedding bands, that were simple, classical with a custom touch. Soon after deciding not to risk and order through the internet as many of us do, we found JDM, and decided to stop by. Surprisingly, we were very much greeted with welcoming warmth and no pressure at all. The information that we were provided from Jennifer about our wants and needs, you could not get online. She was extremely patient and very knowledgeable about the craft of the jewelry business and rings in particular. She answered all and every question we had. I like to think of my wife and I, that we are very picky, and extremely critical of customer service, because we have had received the best of it in the world, around the world. Jennifer, Joel and Ian, outdone and exceeded all of the competition, especially in the jewelry department here in the US, wherever we have went before. From the very first picture we have showed Jennifer, to the last fitting before finishing the wedding bands, the experience was pleasant, professional and a one-of Customer Comes first type thing, where you will not find anywhere else, especially in NJ. Can’t say enough good things about them. Working with Joel and Jen on 2 pieces, several years apart, were such a wonderful experiences.

First piece - I went in with a few old pieces of jewelry, with an idea of how I wanted them set into a pendent. Joel was very patient, listened and made great suggestions. We went back and forth several times. I wound up with something completely different but so much better than I had imagined. Fifteen years later I still love it and get complements on it every time I wear it. The attention to many tiny details made such a great difference.

Second piece - diamond wedding band. This time I knew what I wanted but again Joel’s suggestions made it even better. He and Jen selected several sets of stones for us to choose from. When we didn’t love any of the first sets, they got more for us to choose from. No pressure ever. Jen helped so much by pointing out all the fine details of each stone and how they matched with the others. So patient! She wanted us to love what we were getting and would keep showing us stones until we found just the right set. Joel then made the drawings and a mold. He explained about the construction and what was/wasn’t practical. The ring is spectacular. Just what I wanted. Again the tiny details have such an impact. I love it!

I worked with Joel and Jen to make my wedding band. Because my engagement ring is differently than what is currently in vogue (marquis center stone, marquis and round non-diamond side stones), I knew I needed a custom-made wedding band. Plus, because the wedding band is the main ring I'll be wearing for the rest of my life, I figured it should be something uniquely "me."

I found JMD by doing some online research and gave them a try. As soon as I talked to Joel and Jen in person, I knew they were the right people to make my ring.

I had a great time going through the process of making my ring. First of all, I learned a lot, and I admire the work they do. I also enjoyed talking with Joel and Jen. They are interesting people, and they aren't condescending or pushy - like some other jewelers can be. They're genuine.

My wedding band is beautiful. It is well-made, and it's the amount of "me" I was hoping for. It looks good with my engagement ring, and it also looks good by itself (unlike a typical shadow band).
