Big Luigi's Pizzeria Restaurant — Restaurant in Hollywood

I have been a loyal customer of this specific Big louies for almost 3 straight years. Although I have never had experiences quite as bad as some of the reviewers have had up to this point, I have had deliveries which were not what I specifically ordered- ie. no meat sauce with my baked ziti. This has happened maybe once or twice in the 3 years I have been a patron. The pizza is fantastic. Make sure to order your pizza how well you want it cooked (i like to get pepperoni extra well done). Price wise, 2 large 2 toppings is only about 20 bucks. My roomie and I get this deal the most or the baked ziti w/meat sauce. The penne rosetta is also amazing. Their chicken and veal cutlets are wonderfully thin, eventhough they arent sicilian thin. Most of all their food is also agreeable with my Italian girlfriend who loves this place just as much as I do. I will admit though, you get about as much grease on their pizzas as you would from a Pizza Hut pan pizza- then again it is pizza, which is always greasy. Our favorite pizza toppings are: meatball (contains no pork), green peppers, extra cheese, pepperoni, chicken and olives. Favorites are: baked ziti with meat sauce, penne rosetta, chicken parm sub with extra well done fries, fried zucchini, taco pizza, baked ziti and veal parm combo and our all time favorite- Buffalo Chicken pizza on sicilian crust (about a $5 upcharge from the normal price of a large specialty pizza, total comes to about $22). Some of their bad things are: chicken alfredo (when we tried this, the sauce had so much butter in it, when it began to congeal a little, it got pretty chalky- a trait of high grease food aka no bueno), the steak and cheese is passable and tasty, however it is most definitely not a real cheesesteak sandwhich. Other things to note: this location's coupons are in it's OWN take out menu, delivery times vary and are extra long when it rains specifically because everyone and their mother around here wants delivery when it rains and they typically have one maybe two delivery drivers on staff at any given time. Overall though, this place has been pretty solid for my friends and I throughout the years and has come to be a favorite among us. We are staying in a hotel in Hollywood for a couple nights. We have a small family and were looking for something easy for dinner. There was advertising for this place in our room. My wife called to order the pizza. My wife asked the lady about any specials and prices of the pizzas and she told her that we were in a hotel. The lady was short with my wife and was rushing her to make a decision. I have worked as a GM for a restaurant for the last 16 years. I would assume that when the lady found out that we were in a hotel room she would have known that we were from out of town and would have questions and would take a little time to make a decision. This was a chance for a restaurant that was new to us to make a first good impression. We are planning on moving here in the future and if we had a good experience I am sure that we would have been back. Instead of a good first impression we had a bad one. My wife felt uncomfortable with the lady on the phone and told her we would call back. After she told me what happened I pulled out the laptop and ordered online from Papa Johns. The lady on the phone told us a large pizza was over $20 from Big Louie's and instead we purchased on for $13 after delivery fee and tax from Papa Johns. Showed up to our room in 15 minutes. Please don't waste your time. There service is TERRIBLE. I ordered two large pizzas, gave them my location (informed the man it was a church) and he took my card information to pay for the pizza. They said it would be 45 min. An hour passed by and I called to follow up. The lady on the phone was very short and said the pizza is out for delivery. I waited another 30 min and called back the lady said are you sure you called the right location because we don't have your order. I hung up and double checked the number. I called back because of course I called the same number. The lady apologized and stated the driver couldn't find the house, I stated from the beginning it is a Church. The lady asked if she could call back in one min. The lady called back and put a man on the phone. The man was not apologetic at all. He stated very matter of fact that the church was out of the delivery zone. At this point I had been waiting for my order for more than 2 hours and never got the pizzas I ordered if I could give a zero I would. I never experience service like this!!!!
