We were 1st Time Visitors to "DUKE'S UPPER DECK CAFE" this past Saturday & We were ALL very IMPRESSED w/ the DELICIOUS FOOD & the GREAT SERVICE by Our Waitress. We were at a WEDDING CEREMONY at "ST. THERESE'S PARISH" Church at the top of the hill in MUNHALL. We then came down to the bottom of the hill to eat some FINE CUISINE at "DUKE'S". My Wife & I had NEVER been there, but WE WERE very, very IMPRESSED w/ the ENTIRE RESTAURANT & the GREAT WAIT-STAFF made Our 1st Time VISIT A Very SPECIAL Visit. The PIZZA & HOAGIES were DOWNRIGHT DELICIOUS, My ONLY Complaint was the POP was FLAT & there was too much CARBONATION in it. "DUKE'S UPPER DECK CAFE" is 1 of those RARE Dining Establishments that makes you HUNGRY for more of their TASTY DELICACIES & Begs you to COME BACK for a RETURN VISIT. It's a VERY NICE EATERY & NICELY SET-UP as a "SPORTS BAR" w/ FLAT SCREEN TV'S SET-UP around the Bar. There were NFL Football Games Featuring BIG-BEN being shown, MAJOR LEAGUE Baseball Games & GOLF Games on too. BAR PATRONS were heard talking about the PENS & STEELERS & Who they thought would be the NEW "STANLEY CUP" Champions. The "UPPER DECK" Balcony had a NICE VIEW of the HOMESTEAD AREA & A nice breeze made it even more ENJOYABLE. "DUKE'S UPPER DECK CAFE" is WORTH every DELICIOUS moment that you SPEND THERE & the FOOD is FANTASTIC, the DRINKS COLD & FILLING, the WAIT-STAFF ready to SERVE & the CONVERSATIONS very...
Read moreAs a former restaurant area manager, bar manager, kitchen manager & restaurant manager what an absolute disappointment this was. First, the bartender! I order 2 whiskey sours, she sends them out with a splash of whiskey and a cup full of sour mix. I send them back and her idea of fixing them is to simply just add whiskey to the already made drinks. Really??? Food was fine, the Blue Moon was fine, I order another whiskey sour double and she sends out yet again another full cup of sour mix with a splash of whiskey, mind you...the first 2 drinks and the last tasted nothing but sour mix!!!! So, when presented with the bill I'm charged 3 drinks, the blue moon and food. I have no issue other than why I'm being charged for 3 out of 5 drinks when I send 3 back and we only drank 2. I ask the server who did a great job. I request the manager and how convenient the manager is the bartender that can't make a simple drink. It's a Saturday night, no floor manager, no owners, just a place being run by an manager/untrained bartender to overwhelmed to correctly make a drink or ensure the guests are being properly taken care of and didn't come to see me upon request???? Location, the season, the weather, and the fact it's a sports bar it should be full and a great environment with great service. Unfortunately it's not, bad service from the bar, careless management and no obvious...
Read moreThis is a cool bar/restaurant in Homestead with a Pittsburgh style menu - fried apps, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc. There are a lot of delicious looking items to choose from. I have been here twice. The first time I had a chzburger and fries. Both were okay. The second time I had fried mushrooms, the baked potato soup, and the keibalsi app.
The soup was good, but it was served luke warm, which is always a bummer. The fried mushrooms were excellent - flavorful and crisp. The blistered kielbasa app was a HUGE disappointment. I was expecting a nice hunk of charred kielbasa with mustard. It was served in teeny tiny pieces like it was chopped up for a baby to eat off its high chair tray!! I kid you not. It also was served warm. There was no reason for the apps to come out cold/warm. Our waitress was too busy hanging out bullshitting with the bartender and the other waitress when she should have been in the kitchen waiting for our order. I have no idea what the deal was with the kielbasa. Is it supposed to look like food for an infant? Was it a mistake? Anyway, I would recommend giving this place a try and hopefully you'll have a...
