UPDATE v.2.0 HORRIBLE SERVICE, DISRESPECTFUL FOLLOW UP Please note that this is my FIRST and ONLY 1 star review to date on any platform. i'm here to provide yet another update because i'm noticing that the "response from the owner" has been updated to a much tamer version than the original which, in turn, makes my last update seem overly harsh. please be informed that even though the "owner" is still blaming me for my "temper" and impatience in the new update, this person initially referred me to food trucks with a clear indication that I'm being cheap. To be absolutely clear to this "owner", IT'S YOUR SERVICE THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH. not just at the restaurant, but as it's CLEARLY reflected in the seeming lack of ability to take responsibility for your actions in HOW you're (only) addressing 1 and 2 star reviews. UPDATE: Based on the response from the "owner" I can see why I received such horrible service. You think I'm nitpicking because I'm in a hurry and I'm cheap?? Wow, your fake apology and insistence on making it my fault is perfectly in keeping with my experience at your restaurant. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR BUSINESS. We were the only other couple at the restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. As we put in our order, the person serving us told us some confusing story about the salad pictured. The name of the pictured salad correlated to the crispy chicken that we were looking for so we were okay to proceed with the order as we gave it. After about 10 or 15 minutes (!!), he comes out and tells us that he ācheckedā the slow cooked chicken that was a part of our other order and that it wonāt be ready for another 30-40 minutes so I should choose something else. Absolutely no apology for the fact that he took that long to ācheckā on the chicken. No suggestion to help me make a decision and reduce the wait time. He just told me I need to pick something else and bounced. I decided not to pick anything else because I just didn't want to wait for the strangely slow moving service for the 4 of us that were in the restaurant. We ate the salad, got the bill and realized he was charging us for the more expensive salad plus an up charge for the chicken added to it. I tried to explain our side to clear up what our intentions were because at that point I wasnāt willing to pay 50% more for a salad that we had no intention of getting. I wasnāt able to see it but my wife tells me he had the gall to look annoyed. In the end he discounted the status of the bill by 50%, but the experience was so horrid that I just about hated every bite...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ambiance was barely decent. The service was nice enough, our server was a nice older lady, the food not recommended. It's $20 per plate. They give you pita chips and dip upon entrance. We chose water for drinks, she brought us a pitcher and three SMALL disposable cups. Ok there was 3 of us plus a toddler, she said no cup for my toddler bc it will only be played with and broken. Fair enough, but when my 17 month old wants to drink out of our cups and then leaves food in it, no one will drink from it. So I had to later ask her for another cup, this time I feel like she slighted me. She gave me another SMALL disposable cup handed it to me UPSIDE DOWN- it was CLEAR AS DAY broken & cracked- absolutely broken cup!. I had to ask her to replace it because no one will share a cup to drink w my toddler. We ordered three dishes; lomo saltado, tallarines verdes con bistec apanado, and lamb w rice and beans- can't remember the plate name. The tallarines verdes were OK at best, the lomo saltado was great but the rice was ehh. I hate to say this, but the beans were rotten. When I addressed the rotten beans, they claimed it was too much EVOO that was used. They were very friendly and offered me a diff dish, I asked for plantains, they were out. So I declined anything else. They were really nice, but I would never go there again.
**EDIT:: I'm not complaining about the prices, I'm merely stating what it is. I don't mind the disposable cups, that was not an issue, but to your response, uhm does anyone ever HAVE to ask for glassware???? The beans were rotten, I'm sorry that you didn't like my review, I am just trying to enlighten others. I have nothing against your place, in fact we tipped %20. Please allow my opinions without...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the only Peruvian restaurant in Hawaii, and I haven't taste some legit Peruvian food like this since the last time I visit Peru before the pandemic. As someone who has visited Peru and fallen in love with its cuisine, I can confidently say that this restaurant surpassed all my expectations.
The highlight of my meal was the Lomo Saltado, a traditional Peruvian dish that has always held a special place in my heart. This version of Lomo Saltado was beyond compare. The beef was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and juicy, just like I remember from my time in Peru. The combination of flavors in the dish was spot-on, and the sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfectly complemented the beef. The addition of onions added a delightful crunch and a touch of sweetness that elevated the entire dish.
Beyond the Lomo Saltado, the menu at this Peruvian gem is a treasure trove of authentic culinary delights. Each dish is meticulously crafted, showcasing the chef's deep understanding of Peruvian cuisine. From the vibrant ceviche to the comforting Tallarines Verdes, every bite tells a story of passion, tradition, and a true love for Peruvian flavors.
The service at this restaurant is impeccable. The staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the best of Peru with their guests.
If you're craving an authentic taste of Peru and find yourself in Hawaii, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. It's a rare gem that brings the spirit of Peru to the island paradise, offering an unforgettable dining experience. Don't miss the opportunity to savor the flavors of Peru at their...
